Pokertracker ...worth the $$$?

I have been playing online for over a year. I started with a free $100 on Party from PSO, and have built that up to about $800. I began playing at $25 dollar NL tables but switched to limit this spring because I found my win rate to be higher and the variance lower.

So enough background onto the good stuff...

A couple of times I have gotten my bankroll over $1000 only to see it work its way back to 600-700 and then I work my way back up. I decided that since I like to multi-table 3 tables at once it would be smart to wait until I had a roll of 300 big bets before moving up limits. Thus I have been on the verge of moving up twice only to remain stuck at 1/2. I have identified some holes in my game and recently bought SSHE by Sklansky and Miller to help out.

My question is that I have been considering purchasing Poker Tracker to help fix leaks and to help me identify fish and sharks at the tables. I keep notes but they aren't that great or detailed. I dont really need bankroll management help as I have a very detailed spreadsheet that I use to keep track of all of my sessions.

So for those chiptalkers that have it, is it worth the $55? Considering my short term goals and my level I'm not sure.

Thanks for the advice!

Does your body need water?

Seriously it's probably the best thing you can buy. Also get yourself a hud.

Re: Pokertracker ...worth the $$$?

The program is certainly worth the price.

There are some PSOs that will give you a copy of PT. Since you're already familiar with PSOs then you can decide for yourself if you would like to go that route.

Since you like to multitable, you may be interested in getting some overlay software that works with PT as well. Links are available on the PT site.

Good luck.

Re: Pokertracker ...worth the $$$?

Once you get PT, you'll probably want to look into a nice HUD like PokerAce or some of the others.

If you are not familar with HUDs, these takes the statistics you've collected on players and overlays them on the table you are playing at.

Here is a screenshot at P* with an example of how it looks.

Re: Pokertracker ...worth the $$$?

I find PT a bit limited, but if you get it for free through PSO , it can't hurt.

PockerTracker is teh WIN1111!!!!~!~!~~!!!

No really, it is.

So is Poker Office 2 (significantly better than Poker Office). I think it is actually better than PokerTracker from a statistics POV, although I still use PT with PAHUD when playing b/c it's a better HUD than PokerOffice2.

Re: Pokertracker ...worth the $$$?

Yeah, I use poker office and like it much better than tracker. It also is available free thru PSO and the poker office website itself. I think its much easier to setup and customize the way you want it quite quickly. Trial version is good for like 300 hands, so give it a shot.

Re: Pokertracker ...worth the $$$?

You are at a disadvantage if you play online and don't have PT. PT is more verstile than PO, PO is eaiser to use.

If you are going the PSO route, don't pick PT as your gift, take the PSO points and buy it for 5000 pts.
