Just when you thought the law couldn't get any worse, now some gambling-related magazines are suspending subscriptions in Wa state for fear of being prosecuted under the new law. Check out this article by Danny Westneat for more details (he's the guy that wrote an opinion piece on the law back when it was originally passed): http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...6_danny09.html
WOW -- that is truly a disturbing article. And it seems that the magazines' publishers themselves made the decision to suspend sending the magazines to WA state. Government censorship is terrible, but self-censorship is almost worse...
What I love is that you can't even acknowledge the existence of online gambling or strategy.
Here's an analogy--
the History Channel discusses the history and evolution of drugs during one of its programs. If they say something like, "opium is smoked in a pipe'", they're telling you how to smoke opium. Under the logic of Washington state, the executives of the History Channel should be jailed and fined for explaining to you how opium is generally used.
Even though, they aren't encouraging you to break any laws or misuse your body, they are describing the process, which under the interpretations of Washington state would lead to fines and prosecution.
Welcome to the people's republic of washington state.
