PSO promotion - Desert Sands or Custom

I've qualified for my first PSO promotion.

I have to decide between 500 custom or Desert Sands. Anyone have an opinion? Are the customs made of the same material and quality as the Desert Sands? I'd like to hear some feedback before I put in my order.

Catfish- Don't do the customs. I traded Donut(CT member) for her PSO custom promotion. It has been extremely frustrating and downright annyoing dealing with NJ.

There are specific limitations to the customs which I understood. I could live with them. You'll get your mock-ups exactly 2 weeks from the date you email your text/denomination information. Mine was done prior to that as confirmed by Kim there, but they wouldn't send them prior to 2 weeks? I have no idea why. I get my mock-ups which are ok, but the text font doesn't match the denomination. It is extremely apparent that they're not even close. One is script and the other is the art deco font used on the inital Martini Club designs. My only request is that they change the denomination font to match the text font. After requesting this a over a week ago, they tell me today that it will cost me $25 to do that! WTF, I didn't make a design in which there is an real clear that there is zero continuity. Now they want me to pay for this? Also in the begining I wanted to purchase 300 more chips in a different color to make a $.25 chip for a cash set. They said ok in initially, but they're site/email had problems for a week. Donut couldn't get them my info to confirm the set was going to me. So by the time that happens they say you can't buy extras. OK I guess I can take my money elsewhere. Also when we initally got the mock-ups we asked what font was used. They said they won't give out that info? I needed it to get my $.25 chip made. I at least want the font to match as the design will be different. It's not like they owned the font used, but still would not give the info. We were able to figure it out with zero assistance from them. This whole transaction is taking forever and they're customer service down right stinks.

I've bought a 500 set of Desert Sands from them and was in on the American Beauty GB from them. Everything was top notch in regards to transactions previously with them. So I would definitely take the Desert Sands as you'll receive them extremely quick. My whole experience with these customs has been terrible. My take is that they don't care much for your business here as you are not the 'paying' customer. I know that I will not spend any future money with them regardless of what the product may be.

Sorry for being long winded but this really ticked me off today. I'm not griping over the measly $25. It's the principle here.

The DS's have several denominations to choose from and the ability to add on to the set (including additional denominations) at any time. I believe you can completely customize the number of denominations and the amount of each denom in your set (on the 500 chip upgrade only, not the 300 chip set). I believe only 4 chip colors are available for the customs: red, green, blue, & black. You can't order extra chips and/or more than 4 denominations and I believe you have to order a minimum of 100 of each color/denom you decide to get. If you can live with those limitations then the customs may be worth it to you. Personally, I upgraded to American Beauties just before the custom offer began, but after I saw what they were offering, I wasn't disappointed that I hadn't waited. Given the choice, I wouldn't order the customs anyway.

Wow i just finished the PSO for Customs and this is a shock. I think i might just take my business elsewhere also. No wonder people are going to China to get chips with poor customer service like this. And they wonder why?

I will also never buy anything from NJ if they are not nice to their customers.

Please any other issues out there with NJ PSO Custom offer?

Also if NJ has the "time" please weigh in on this and offer some sort of explaination.

Sorry to hear about all the problems, and thank you for taking the time to give us all a heads up.

A Desert Sands cash set will be ordered tomorrow.

Catfish- You'll be happy with the Desert Sands. That is still one of my favorite fantasy chips. I just sold my low limit cash set of these to buy the extra denomination I wanted for my new set. I have no idea what the problem is with NJ right now. They're probably swamped with these orders, but they've got to be kidding concerning the changing of the font. Even if you check their site all the examples the font of the denominations match the text of the chip. How could one expect it to be any different in any circumstance? I've pm'd NJ with a question earlier, but they failed to respond. I didn't want to be negative towards a good sponsor of this site, but I'm pretty much done with this transaction. I think they have been completely unreasonable with very simple requests.

None of the custom designs they offered appealed all that much so I went with the Desert Sands. Shipped very promptly and I was able to specify whatever combination of denominations I wanted. Customer service was very quick to answer questions and responsive (although the quoted shipping weight was incorrect).

Donut is kindly shipping my set to me in Australia (NJ won't ship outside the US/Canada but this was clear from the promotion). +rep her awesome awesomeness if you have the chance!

Enjoy the chips when you get them, whichever way you go. I'm certainly looking forward to mine in the next few weeks.

Got my Desert Sands on Wednesday. Very timely considering I ordered them last Thursday. On top of that, they arrived Tuesday during the day, my wife left them in the garage, and she never told me about them. If I hadn't found them, they'd still be sitting there all by their lonesome selves!

Very nice set of chips. Can't wait to break them in on the felt.

Maybe the bad service during this period was because the owners were away. They just got back on Wed.

I agree that for most people, the DS is a better choice than customs as you can always add more and also the fact they are available in more than 4 colours.
