Chips: 5,814 | | | My suckout of the week My suckout of the week.
Preflop the betting get's capped and I'm sitting with AA. After the flop betting, I'm about 80% sure 1 of them has a set and very likely top set. Montecarlo is a pretty tight player from what I've seen while eatbush has only been around for few minutes. At best we've got AA, KK and QQ between the 3 of us. Wish I knew what Monte had.
Anyone fold this on the turn? I'm just crossing my fingers that eatbush doesn't really have a set but an overpair.

After the hand, I chatted "bad suckout, sorry" and he replied "sh!t happens, no biggee". I'm sure he wasn't happy but definitely not too PO. |

For 2/4 that is a pretty nice sized pot. It is almost the size of the standard buyin for 2/4 ($80-$100).
Limt (especially 2/4), I still hang on to the aces on the turn. I also would have slowed down as you did (depending upon the players). |

Personally, I'm kind of surprised eatbush capped preflop with just JJ in position with 2 other raisers. Personally, I would have just called and evaluated my options on the flop. He was new to the table so he probably didn't know much about Monte and myself as we are both relatively tight players. |

Chips: 6,850 | | | Re: My suckout of the week Very nice -- I would have played it almost the same. In fact, I had a similar hand w KK versus QQ: Q-high flop, but river was a K. And I did the exact same thing: slowed down on the turn when the flop action was heavy, assuming that my fellow pre-flop-raising opponent might have flopped a set or had AA (there were no good draws on the board). My opponent was not happy when I sucked-out, but it happens. And I was pleased that I read him correctly and didn't donk off a few extra bets when I was behind.
As to your question: no way am I laying down AA to one turn bet in a pot this big. And I probably call one bet on the river even without the set depending on the action: 80% sure is not enough in pot with more than 10 big bets unless I have a really solid read on the player(s). Having a extra player in there changes things of course, but he too only check-calls the turn, so I am less worried about having him check-raise the river. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
