My own online challenge (to myself)

I've barely played any tournaments online, so I decided to deposit enough for 10 $5.50 SNGs on Poker Stars. I decided to do this while playing a $3.40 SNG earlier this week

So far, I've busted out in 9th (last) place in one, and placed 1st in another.

It was looking pretty bleak near the beginning of the second game, but I had a crazy hand and vaulted to chip leader. And I like my last hand of the game when I flopped trips Er, now that I actually posted the hand, it looks like I was already the leader. That was coming from being the short stack getting pocket aces and having them hold up, and a hand shortly after when I flopped a flush against two pair. THEN was this big hand

I'll try to remember to update this as I play the next 8 SNGs.

Re: My own online challenge (to myself)

The other day I got $12 free dollars at Titan poker, I've recently looked at my game and changed things, now I believe I'm playing better poker. I took my $12 in one day and came in first in a $2 single table then came in first at a 12 person sit-n-go. I then relaized that Titan has "other games" ie blackjack. Well I more than doubled my money playing BJ. First day took $12 into $45...then went back to the BJ table and lost it all..LOL.

I learned, I'm a moron that needs to stick to poker. Or at least, quit when I'm ahead. I was the one in Vegas that made my wife leave the table when we would get up about a grand at the BJ tables, now me, by myself couldn't just turn off the comp when I doubled up...I wanted to get to $50 before the day was done...oh well, free money.

Re: My own online challenge (to myself)

I've only really been playing for a couple of years (other than playing/watching 5 card draw with my family since I was a kid), and only really got into poker over the last year. It went from a fun night of drinking to a fun night of drinking and winning money

I never really did any specific lately, but I have been playing better. I guess learning from mistakes and reading, and doing things slightly differently. I'm even often capable of laying down a good hand when I'm pretty sure I'm beat. Something I wouldn't have been able to do a year ago.

Even if I'm not doing well, I'm still mostly enjoying playing poker, since I play stakes I'm comfortable with. And with the knowledge that I know I'm able to win back after losing

As for "free" money... well, the last couple of times I had $20 free from PartyPoker, it didn't last long. I doubled up the first time, then lost it all. I guess knowing in the back of my mind that it wasn't mine to begin with has something to do with that, causing me to get reckless.

Re: My own online challenge (to myself)

Ten SNGs later, I won two of them, and never made the money in the rest. 9th, 1st, 5th, 4th, 7th, 1st, 5th, 7th, 7th, 5th. I was playing more to win, not to try to just make 3rd place. It was awesome that I was getting called when I was a huge favorite to win, but not so good when they hit one of the two or three cards left that could help them Oh well. Being down $10 over 10 $5+0.50 SNGs isn't so bad, I think. I played well, just can't control random craziness.

LEAK LEAK LEAK
Table games are HUGE leaks to any bankroll. There is a reason that the casinos love them, they ALWAYS make money.

Stay away from the "gambling" games - at least with your poker roll. They are "for entertainment" only.
