Chips: 1,589 | | | Is online poker rigged?? Ok I know that a lot of people whine on online poker about bad beats and I have always been VERY reluctant to believe any of it but I am now beginning to wonder.
Someone mentioned something about someone doing a study that showed how much extra money online sites would make by just tweaking the cards a bit.
The last two days in 3 SNG's I have seen so many 20:1 bad beats I can't help but think about this.
I was about to e-mail p* today asking if they had any independent autited info and I saw on their home page that this has been done.
What do you guys think? Does anyone have any proof one way or another?

Obviously, I don't think so.

Obviously, I don't think so. | I guess maybe I should clarify my previous post a bit. I am not claiming on-line play is rigged to make any particular player(s) win or lose, only that I think the software which runs the games is programmed to generate dramatic runs of cards. Again, on-line play just has too many examples of super strong hands running up against even stronger super strong hands way too often. The probabilities don't support the hands which come and the odds don't support how often they come.
I definitely agree, however, these threads never go anywhere.

There's an article someone with all the math involved, but I'm not going to look for it now. There's a link on pso somewhere to it. I mean how often do you see 90,000 people in a live poker room? Their dealing far more hands than you see live, so you will see better hands getting cracked more often. Also the caliper of play needs to be looked at. At a .25/.50 game people are going to play different than a 2-5 game live. Whatever if it's rigged keep it coming cause I've paid for 2 vactions and an engagement ring with the $$$ I've made playing online off of a single $30 deposit. |

I definitely agree, however, these threads never go anywhere. | I love your supportive evidence of this. So the PwC audits of the randomizing software also must be rigged?
A bit of an inflammatory response, but the risk/reward for a site to generate a dramatic run of cards just doesn't fly for me. Sigh. Probably the worst possible question that keeps getting asked (OP). |

Second - I do not have a math degree, but I am not a simpleton either. I can follow your argument about how many hands per hour and how many players are involved; however, the probability and odd's involved do not change. If I were observing all of the hands and all of the players at once the overall instance of what I am talking about would be higher but not the percentages (such as is reflected in the studies you are referring to); however, the rate of occurrence on a single eight player table should not be any different than an eight player table in real life. I am not the most experienced player, but I have played/witnessed several thousand hands in person and several thousand hands on line and, based on my experience, the rate of occurrence on line far exceeds that in live play.
