Limped in with small pocket pair. *I* hit gin on the flop and made a big bet... He called. With the 10 on the turn, I wasn't sure I was behind (he certainly calls my big bet on the flop with 10-4 or 10-9). I put him all in and he immediately called, showing top pair with an overpair to my boat.
Then *he* hit gin on the river...

I've never heard the word gin used in poker.

I couldn't really avoid it either... I think he calls if I go all in after the flop...
The good news is, I took it all back from the donkey about 8 hands later with pocket threes that tripped the flop. He called with QJos on a flop of A-9-3 rainbow.

Same tourney... lost a 64,000 pot when he hit gin on the turn...

Results 1 - 8 of about 11 for "hit gin" poker.
I'm guessing Mike Sexton made this saying up.

I've heard alot of players use the term...not just Sexton. I even heard Ted Forrest use it... he's far from the hippest guy out there... If he uses it, its pretty common in the community.

BTW - The guy that hit me with the second bad beat gave me all my chips back too (my pocket jacks held up against his KQos)... He busted out two hands later and I'm still in the top 36 with about 400 to go...
(9100-player free roll on Pokerstars...)

Finished 59th out of 9,133.
