Re: Fold, Call, Push?

Many, many possibilities both ways here. I would like to be able to go over the top without pushing all in, but with where you are this is not really an option. Indy is on the button so you will have to act first after the flop, which is less than optimal but not really that bad heads up.

I would probably call and see what comes next. J/A is a good starting hand, but not really a guaranteed winner so I would probably call, hope for a good flop, and see if I could set a trap.

You do have him covered, so going all in before the flop and loosing would not bust you out, but it would really cripple you so I would just see the flop.

Man, this is a really tough call without having much of a history on this guy. What did you do and how did it turn out?

Re: Fold, Call, Push?

Feels like a push to me. I mean I'm worried because you say he's tight, but it still could easily be a steal.

I don't think you have any fold equity though. He's got half his stack in there. But I think you have the equity to make the play. He can easily have any A or small pocket pair.

If he shows AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ..... well that's poker.

Re: Fold, Call, Push?

Results.

hachkc: calls 600
*** FLOP *** [As Kc 6s]
hachkc: bets 1239 and is all-in
Indynagrom: folds
hachkc collected 1700 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 1700 | Rake 0
Board [As Kc 6s]
Seat 1: Indynagrom (button) folded on the Flop
Seat 2: Rob_2006 (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 4: hachkc (big blind) collected (1700)
Seat 6: alyy2000 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 7: A-laursen folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 8: tomatoman52 folded before Flop (didn't bet)

I took time while deciding to call preflop so he probably but me on an A. I'm guessing he had an under pair, 2 painted or something like that. He folded almost immediately after I pushed.

I ended up winning the tourney ($10 three table SNG).

Re: Fold, Call, Push?

You have to act first after the flop. I would fold or push... probably fold.
The only other option is to pull a stop'n'go (call and go all in on the flop no matter what). But he'd only have 900 left so you're almost definitely going to get called.

Um.
I mean, call. Yeah, that's what I meant.
Looks like he had JJ or QQ.

Re: Fold, Call, Push?

My thought process:

AJo is too good to fold but not necessarily good enough to come over the top all-in. In hindsight, fold or push should have been the only options. My table image was fairly tight also. I called and I planned to push if I caught any part of the flop (pair, str8 draw, flush draw). As it is, TPGK and a back door flush draw was a push.

Very good thought process - no need to go all in half-cocked. Too many players do this too often.

I KEEP IT REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
