Chips: 137 | | | Worse beat The worse beat i ever took was when i had pocket Aces and I went all in, preflop. I was called by a 2 10 suited clubs and the player caught the flush on the turn. By the way we were almost equal in chips and it was half way through the tournament. Beat that. |

I'm playing over at Stank's. It's down to 4 handed poker. I get dealt A 7 in the big blind. The flop comes up 4 5 6 . He checks and I bet. The turn is the 8 . Nice. He bets out, I make a huge raise, and he calls. The turn is a blank. He checks to me, I bet about 2/3 of my stack.
Stank's sitting there, telling the guy to go over the top. He just calls. I say, "Wouldn't have mattered what he did, cause I got the nuts!!!" I pull out the 7 hold it up, and look at it. I notice the 's looks like 's. I pull it closer. They're 's. He turns over the Q and wins the pot.
I tried to lose as fast as possible so I could leave. |

FYI Engima - that is not really a bad beat. Just aces getting cracked. Happens all of the time.
AA vs T2s = 83% fav
AA vs KK = 81% fav
you were only slightly better off facing T2 than KK. |

Chips: 137 | | | Re: Worse beat So you are saying that an 83% favorite before the flop isn't a bad beat, then what would you consider a bad beat. Remember he called me with a 2 10 suited before the flop, for about all his chips. |

Chips: 137 | | | Re: Worse beat I understand what you 2 are saying, I had a flush cracked on the river by a full house. The player caught runner, runner 6's to fill it out. To me the 2 10 suited hurt much more. |

The key thing to realize - is that if every time AA was cracked was considered a "bad beat" , then there would be endless bad beat stories. What Yeltzin said is kind of the professional baseline for a bad beat - you need to have aces full and be sucked out on. This is truly a bad beat sicne you should have the board nuts at that point.
Aces are great, but not unbeatable. In one of the CT games, I had aces full beat by quad eights. Interesting, but not really a bad beat since we both made our hands at the same time (his 4th 8 game me the boat).
All poker stories have some interesting tidbits - and this is not to say that anyone should stop posting them (especially the interesting ones), but true bad beats do not happen all that often. That is why they are "bad".
For instance - the odds of T-2 cracking your aces are similar to the same hand cracking KK, QQ, and JJ. If we included everything that was an 85% favorite as a bad beat, well we all would have an endless strteam of bad beat stories to tell.
make sense? |

Aces are by no means invincible. It used to hurt bad when I'd lose with them. Now it's just another hand. |

Sorry dude, but stories of Aces getting cracked are really pedestrian. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. How long have you been playing? Just curious, because if that is the worst beat you ever took, well then count youself lucky! Don't worry though, keep playing and you'll find another one.
Getting beat by horrible 1 or 2 outers on the river by an opponent who was behind on every prior street, now THOSE are bad beat stories. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
