Question New to Online Poker....Help!

Hey guys! I am totally new to this Online poker thing and I have been wanting to sign up to do this PSO Promo for the NJ Skulls. Like I said, I've never done any of this online poker stuff and would like to try it out. What are the requirements to sign up? Does it cost any kind of money or anything? Just wondering if someone can give me a step by step on what I need to do to sign up for this PSO NJ Skull promo. Any help would REALLY be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: New to Online Poker....Help!

First,

say goodbye to sleep

next

Do you really want to play online poker?

Online poker is very convienent. BUT - it can take your hard earned $$$ quick if you are not careful. The skulls promo is nice, but it may be cheaper in the long run to actually buy them.

PSO is an online affiliate. Affiliates are basically salespeople for online sites. They get comissions whne you sign up for the pokersite throuigh their webpage. As an incentive for you to use them as the signup point - they give back some of this comission as prizes or cash.

The basics of the PSO skulls deal -

First, set up a PSO account.

Then, there is a banner on PSO that you need to ckick for this deal. They do not offer the skulls all of the time. Sometimes it is only up until the 1st 20 (or whatever amount that they want to give out that day) people sign up.

Cliking the link sends you to the next page - where you pick the site you want to play at. They have several and you can get one of their offers for each site. All of the sites have different playing requirements for claiming the bonus. Usually, there is a specific amount of raked hands that myst be played before they "pay" PSO - who then will send you whatever offer you signed up for. PSO has specific instructions on what to do when signing up through their site - so make sure you follow them. They are pretty good about correcting things (post any issues in the forum) as long as the account is created through their links.

There are also minimum deposits required for this. I am not sure exactly what they are - but I cleared several of their offers with $100 placed at the specific site.

Now you have to play the required # of hands to clear the bonus. If you have a small bankroll, this could take some time. In most cases - the smaller the stakes - the more hands required. Do not try to clear the bonus playing tournamnets or SnG - this will take forever as the rake generated for tournamnets is very small when compared to cash games.

My recommendation - do not go for the PSO offers yet. There are several affiliates out there offering "instant bankrolls" of like $10-$25. You can find them on rsp - or someone here could probably PM one to you that they have used. This will allow for you to get your feet wet playing online.

Re: New to Online Poker....Help!

Well you could just sign up for one of the other PSO offers to get your feet wet. And remember, you don't HAVE to complete any PSO offer you start if you don't want to. You can always start another one with them if you don't like the first room you start on, and you can ALWAYS withdraw your money from the poker room at any time and walk away from both the poker room's offer and PSOs offer. You're not obligated to complete either.

Re: New to Online Poker....Help!

w16227 give you the exact process of how PSO works. If you want to try it at the lowest risk which is very low if you are half a decent holdem player, follow the process below.

Assuming you have a PSO account already (free, no charge)

1. Click on the NJ banner at PSO and sign up at PSO if you have not already done so.
2. Pick Party Poker as the site to clear the promo.
3. Deposit $500 at Party and DO NOT forget to put SPECIAL100 as deposit bonus code (if you do not put SPECIAL100 as deposit bonus code, you are screw)
4. Play at "beginner's" table at the 25/50cents limit holdem table.
5. Play 250 rake hands (about 5-6 hours single table.) Claim your NJ from PSO and withdraw your bankroll from Party if you do not wish to play any more.

That is it. You have the $100 bonus that Party will give you after 250 rake hands so you can lose up to $100 and still have the NJ's for free. If you win or lose less than $100 you will also gain some money.

If you lost more than $100 while doing this, I suggest you DO NOT even think of playing online poker again.

Except for Bodog which I do not have experience at, any other site will be at least 4x harder. I rank Paradise next easiest which requires 1000 rake hands at .50/1.00 limit holdem level. Also I have find PSO to be one of the best (if not the best) affinate to work thru.

Note: Deposits at most sites to meet minium PSO deposit is $100. Party will give you bonus of $25 or 20% up to $100 so it makes sense to deposit $500 for the $100 bonus, it will clear at the same time that the PSO promo clears. If you do not go thru PSO, at Party you will have to play 7x the bonus to clear which means 700 rake hands to clear $100. For those of you considering other sites, be aware that some site's bonus clears in increment while others are all or nothing.
