Chips: 1,861 | | | I'm a donkey. Super-monkey-tilt got it's nasty claws on me this week. Here's what I learned:
If the only hand he can have is bottom set (due to observed play in the past), your top pair is no good. You *will*not* flush on the turn or the river.
If the only hand he and the guy that just reraised him is a set and a larger set then your top two is no good. You *will*not* flush on the turn or the river. You very well may be drawing dead to your FH outs. You try to find pot odds or a commitment to the pot in the HH but cannot find either given the situation. You are tilting.
If you have a nut flush, the board is not paired and the only hand that can beat you is the unlikely straight flush you had DAMN WELL BETTER review how and what this particular player plays before calling off all your chips on a lousy AQs with the nut flush. HE MAY NOT HAVE THE K HI FLUSH. Now the monkey has you on HIS back.
I'm taking a break. I'm getting horrible cards and tilting. As a result, I'm playing like crap. Don't be me. Thankfully I'm a disciplined tournament player so super-monkey-tilt can only hurt me so much. I don't feel the need to "get even" by playing above my 'roll.
(after rereading this I think the third beat is just tilt talking. Go broke here every time.... I'd estimate that a standard $20 MTT donkey is going to hold the K hi here 99.934552% of the time)

Yes the calls sometimes people are rediculous, and it is so maddening, when anyone with logic would lay they hand down. I'm at my near wits end with the real donkeys that make dumb calls and what not |

My frustration right now is with myself. I *know* how these guys play (well) and yet I still call off all my chips with an inferior hand.
That third beat was just unfortunate.

This goes for bottom pair on the flop and bam!; they hit the set on the river.
I also have a problem with people not having the ability or intestinal fortitude to throw away an Ace w/a lower kicker. WTH, it's not the golden card.
Sorry, got carried away. |

If you play a lot of tournaments, they are really frustrating. Why? - one donkey move can take you out with no return on your cash.
In ring games, you have a much better chance of regaining your $$$ in that session. Makes the beats easier to take.

With a tournies in general, I believe folks find it easier to chase a hand than if it were a cash game; hey the money's already committed so let's chase that 1 outer or whatever.
As w16227 said, at a cash game you get the opportunity to get your money back and then some if the player keeps playing that way. Plus, in a cash game your can look for those donkeys ahead of time when you choose your table. |

If I were a donkey tonight in a single table tourney, I would have called two guys pre flop all in with my 2d9h...instead I folded..up against AJ and QQ...Flop was QJ10 Hearts, turn 8 hearts....folded my first ever straight flush....then the very next hand while in disbelief I folded 8-3 and the flop yep 883. I did finish second though... |

[Still woulda been nice to have that 8-3 in the BB or somehow catch one of those, though!]
Is it wrong when you make a bad play and it turns our OK? YES IT'S STILL WRONG!
Is it right when you make the correct play and it turns out crappy? YES IT'S STILL RIGHT! |

just a thought,,,,,,,, | meh. with PT, i've spotted the donks 10 minutes in. then you wait 'em out. donking doesn't hurt them as much int he early going. but when the blinds get to 100 or so, they get crushed with their limping and their min-raises.
and about being out with no return on your money...well, there's always another one getting fired up any second, right? the best part about multi-tabling is that it leaves little time/inclination for steaming. just move on, baby! | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
