Chips: 2,131 | | Frickin' Party Poker Free Money: I Hate Them! So I quit online poker early this year--I've lost thousands because I suck and I get too steamed playing faceless opponents. . . Then CT starts the tourney thing, so I deposit a little at PStars, and subsequently lose all my money there. . . so now I'm really quit. . . then I get this package from Party with a damn hat in it and a letter that says they've just given me free money just to start playing again. . . so I check my account and I've got $100 in bonus, 1500 raked hands by Xmas to cash it! So now I'm back to grinding it at the frickin' 50˘/$1 limit tables, triple-tabling. . . ARRGH! |

The nearest cardrooms are 30-45 min away: San Manuel (crappy RT Plastics chips and terrible rake system) or Lake Elsinore (tough, hardscrabble locals clean me out everytime). I'm married with a 4 year-old. 'Nuff said! |

Actually, multi-tabling helps me not to steam, because that way I don't have time to pay attention to which luck-bot is currently sucking-out on me. Plus I need to play 1500 raked hands, so this gets it done faster (normally I will play two tables at the most). I just play fairly mechanically and according to odds, and don't play with junky or speculative starting hands. At 50˘/$1 limit, steaming is probably the main way I lose money. |

I think you may have found part of the problem anyway, if you're not paying attentiion to who sucks out, you're not paying attention to your opponents. The other thing may be to work on your game a bit with friendly home games, if you're getting cleaned out in the local cardrooms and there is no colusion going on. Quote: |

I think that at PP 50˘/$1 limit tables, it isn't worth paying attention to the specific players since most of them aren't very good, play similarly, and switch tables a lot. The only thing I will notice is if some player is in too many hands or is not playing many, or if somebody seems to "have my number". Again, I'm only doing this this way right now to see if I can clear the $100 and cash out before I get sucked in.
Believe me, I haven't lost thousands playing 50˘/$1 at Party. Most of it was at Paradise (back when they were like the only game in town) and in NL games at Doyle's, FullTilt, and Party.
In live poker I am actually even--the Lake Elsinore experience was simply a matter of poor game selection (i.e. playing the 4-8 half-kill game into the wee hours on a weeknight against the locals and props). I would be a bit ahead if I hadn't steamed off $600 in a single hand against an annoying rich blackjack player at Hollywood Park. |

Chips: 2,131 | | | Re: Frickin' Party Poker Free Money: I Hate Them! UPDATE 10 Dec 2005 (cuz I know y'all care): 827 of 1500 raked hands played, $162.11 total (+62% from original free $100 bonus, unless you count the $10 I lost playing frickin' BLACKJACK, go figure, but then I won $4 on that frickin' SIDEBET "feature" they've added).
"They" are OBVIOUSLY letting me win just to trick me into thinking I'm a winning player, hoping I decide to deposit some more money in my account. What complete degenerates. |
