Should be called Never Fold'em Hold'em

Just got done playing an up and down night of sit n go's at pacific poker. Up half the nigh down the other half so basically broke even. The one thing that noticed tonight playing later on was the number of people who were not folding, and I mean not at all in theface of huge raises pre-flop post flop and so on. It was amazing the muber of suck outs that went along with it. Watching Aces getting cracked by the monster hand of 5-7 os. Pepople sucking out to straights while having to bet huge to get them. I know the general rule is make them pay to suck out, but it was getting crazy.

How do you play against this???? I mean the last tourney I played raised four times big blind....five left at table all call????????????? flop shows rainbow possible straight in the works and nothing higher than a jack. Holding high pair I bet big get called by entire table....????? I am thinking WTF??????????? I ended up folding because no one else would and I would have been sucked out on the river. Next hand five times big blind whole table calls I throw my hands up scream at the screen and procede to sit until these other's knocked each other out playing monster 6-8 os 5-7 os and other absolute crap hands that were winning, just to try and eke out a second place finish.

I ended up winnning but it was only because I got dealt decent cards got called three consecutive times on my all ins and the hands held up giving me chip lead and three hands later won. I think the thing that was most shocking was that some of these guys thought that they were playing masterful cards when they drew two pair and runner runner striaghts and other one outer type hands. when they had no business even calling the raised blinds let alone going to the river.

How do you guys generally handle this type of situation? These were in 5 and 10 dollar sit n go's as well.

Re: Should be called Never Fold'em Hold'em

Tighten up and try to restrict your play to the premium hands (although I'm sure you are already doing this). You may want to move up to a higher money table where people actually know how to play. It can sure be frustrating though, eh.

I love Pacific for that. Actually I tend to loosen up my starting requirements in the early stages. You can limp suited connectors see a flop and dump when necessary. Don't try to bluff if you know it won't work. Value bet don't bet to drive people out. When you think your beat don't try to push them off their hand if you know they will call. Post flop play becomes very important

Re: Should be called Never Fold'em Hold'em

I'd characterize your table as extremely loose and passive. Kinda like the free games.

Those are pretty easy to beat. My strategy is basically simple: limp -> flop a monster -> overbet the hell out of it. They'll pay you off. If you hold premium cards, raise pre-flop --- you might as well get some money in the pot. Otherwise, since they don't raise pre-flop you can limp into lots of pots. If you don't flop a monster -- fold. If you do flop a great hand -- then bet like a maniac. Never bluff. Never slow-play.

The problem gets worse when you add a maniac or two into the mix. You know those super-aggressive types that will always raise, no matter what they hold. Then the variance gets too large for my comfort. In that case, you can no longer limp profitably. You have to tighten up, play fewer hands, and be patient.

Re: Should be called Never Fold'em Hold'em

-don't play fast with speculative hands when the blinds are small
-bet big hands very fast. pot sized bets...all-in if it's 40% of your stack or so
-limp a little more often...look to flop big
-wait for the blinds to get big...a lot of the chumps'll be gone, and there'll probably be a big stack waiting to get picked off. double up against him when you flop TPTK or a set.

easy money, baby. i wish all games were like that.

Re: Should be called Never Fold'em Hold'em

I actually had to walk away from internet poker for awhile because of this.
It seems to be getting worse on PS.
I try to adjust my play but it seems like the donks always get paid off which was putting me on tilt.
