Chips: 44 | | | Bad beat of the year Ok, I'm at a 2-4 nlhe, I hold 8 8 just before the BB. One player calls, i call, the LB folds, and theBB checks, so 3 handed. Th flop 8 4 4 , I flop the preverbial nuts, to pocket 4s. Both players check to me, I bet 4. BB folds, other guy calls. Turn Q , other guy bets 10, I go all in for 65, he calls. He has Q J . River Q , I almost threw my computer out the window. I was so pissed. I'm still reeling about this and it happened 3 days ago. So angry . |

I was in the BB in a $1/2 NL game with 4 4 . Someone raised to $7 and 5 people saw the flop. Flop came 4 2 3 . It checks around to the button who bets $15. I call and everyone else folds. Turn is 3 and I check. Button bets $30 and I put him all-in for anther $40 more. He calls and turns over A 5 for the straight flush to my boat. River was meaningless as I was drawing dead. I almost threw up on the table.

It was at Harrah's Atlantic City. I'm playing $2/5 NL $500 max buy-in. I'm on the button with 2 2 and it's folded to me. So I raise it to $20. The big blind calls. Now, as everyone knows, I steal early and often in poker games, so the BB probably thought I was on a steal. The flop comes 6 3 K . He checks to me and I bet the pot, $42. He raises it to $150. Now, I had seen him do this many times with a flush draw, so I come over the top all-in for $413, or $263 to him. He calls and turns over A K . I couldn't believe it. How could he call from the BB with that when I had shown so much strength? Turn J , river 3 . What a joke. I stood up and told him that I'd love to have him in every game I play in if he always plays like that. He said that's how he felt about me.
Whatever that's supposed to mean. |

Whatever that's supposed to mean. | He called because he probably put you either on a steal as you said you are known to do or a big pair. Either way he figures he has you beat unless you have KK or AA. Top pair with top kicker, depending on how deep his stack is, I would probably make that call too. |

Preflop you were at most a slight favorite (no calculator on hand, but you were at best like a 51% favorite, might even have been a 49% underdog).
On the flop - you were way behind. He had a st8 vs your set. You had 5 outs (and additional on the river) to hit your FH. |

The same card that made my boat made his st8 flush. In my opinion, that is bad. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
