Chips: 896 | | | Think I'm runnin' bad? These are all-in hands that have knocked me out or crippled me in tournys on Partypoker the last couple days.
K,K lost to J,J
10,10, lost to A,8
A,A lost to A,10
K,K lost to K,5!!!!!!
A,K lost to 5,5
6,6 lost to A,J
A,K lost to A,J
9,9 lost to A,K
K,K lost to A,4
A,A lost to 8,8 and finally
K,K lost to 9,5
I couldn't make this up if I tried. Starting to feel like last year when K,K lost 16 times I had it on PP in a row. The last one put me through the roof. 2850 in chips. 30,000 on the table. 9 players left. Blinds 100-200. I'm one off the button and make it 500. BB w/ around 3600 goes all-in. I call. lose to trips |

Chips: 1,555 | | | I feel your pain. But one thing you might do is start tracking which of those hands are the biggest winners and losers in the long run for you.
One of my biggest losing hands is Ace-King offsuit believe it or not. I just have the worst luck in overall $$ win/lose on this. Inevitably, if you raise with Ace-King and you get an Ace or King on the flop, you're generally not going to get a big payoff. It's only if you miss Ace or King on the flop and have to draw one on the river where you see the payoff.
So take your string of losses with a grain of salt and realize that many of those hands will probably end up winning in the long run, just in the short run on the lower stakes level, people are going to draw out on ya.
Just remember, the hand isn't done until either everyone else folds or they are all flipped up. If you can't chase em out early, you gotta ride out the cards. |

Chips: 200 | | | A buddy of mine lost with AA on Poker Stars about three times in a row in one day.
First time - it was first hand of the tournament, he was in early position. He raises. Two callers then a re-raise. It gets to him, he decides to go all in. The two initial callers call along with the original raiser.
One of the two in the middle called an all-in on the first hand with 5/2 off.
That's the guy who won the hand. Flop came 5,X,2.
It's tough with AA or KK to not go all in. I usually won't raise all in with those hands (or any pocket pairs) if there's a full table - but if someone re-raises you all in, you pretty much have to call. And, odds be damned, when you get two people all in pre-flop, ANYTHING can happen.
Not to mention, for all the times I've had a good starting hand beat by a **** starting hand - I've also sucked out against other people.
But - I have to admit, that's a TRULY bad run you had. My only advice - don't let other people beating you with crap hands make you start trying to win with crap hands (I have a tendency to do that if I see a lot of bad hands hitting, I start thinking, "Hey, maybe I should play my 9/5 off!")
Good luck! |

Chips: 6,502 | | Before my brother left for Africa for 4 months we had a family game and my AA and my Mom's KK were cracked by my brother's J8o!
With the flop 4 4 8, and only 350 in the pot my brother pushes all in with 20,000 in chips. Mom is short stacked with 5,000 so she calls, I am chip leader and I call. So my brother basically has a 2 outer, as does Mom, and on the river one of those 8's comes up.
But in the long run I have not had many bad beats with either big pair; I do not get them very often but they are usually good to me. AK is another story though, that hand and medium pairs are tough ones for me.

Chips: 14,006 | | | In the same span of time, how many times have you won a race or gotten lucky from behind? What -- don't keep track of that?
Kidding aside, I know how you feel. The random distribution of cards can be brutal. |

Ive got 2 and 1/2 pages of AI confrontations from PP. Ive cracked A's w/ 7,7 and beat A,K and J,J w/ 10,10 in a 3 way AI, so it's not like it never happens. But.......over the last 3 weeks I have a 37.8 win % in AI confrontations and was the favorite 62.1% of the time. Also, I was a big favorite (65% to win or greater) 51.4% of the time and a big dog 13.5% of the time. I'm not blind to the fact that best in isn't always best out and this is a relativly small sample (111 showdowns), but is there any untruth to the title of my post? I'm prob just looking for someone to comiserate w/ so I don't smash my keyboard or pull out my rapidly greying hair. |

Chips: 14,006 | | | This can be a positive sign for your overall play. How's that? You only suffer a bad beat when you get your money in while you're ahead, and then the underdog wins from behind. The point is, you are making good decisions if you are getting your money in while you're ahead. You really can't ask for more.
Good poker is about making the correct decision each time you act. Its within the realm of statistical probability that the underdog will win a significant portion of the time when you are ahead -- we just don't like the short term results. If you are making good decisions, the numbers will inevitably swing in your favor in the long run. Keep at it. |

the made hand is a small favorite in this case so it doesn't fit into the rest of the list. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
