WSOOP O8 "Trip Report"

1st break report (if anyone really cares, lol)

Players of not at my table

dblgutshot (mid level pro - some arguments on who this actually is)

Ramabird and Pyas (I guess that they are tourmanet regulars on stars). One of them cashed in the PL Omaha (high only) event.

So far - not too much action. This game is a LOT faster than my usual digs (the 10-50 O8 MTTs). A lot less players seeing the flop - but I expected this). Players actually know how to fold as well - so timing decent bluffs is a must. Preflop raises are getting respect as well - and even taking down the blinds occasionally. POKER IS ACTUALLY BEING PLAYED.

I also LOVE the slow blinds (30 minutes) and higher chipcount (2500). Gives you a chance to make a mistake without crippling yourself early.

OK - So far, we have played 73 hands n the 1st hour. That is SMOKING for O8.

Chipcount: 2723 average = 2506
2 players gone so far (YES - I was not first out)
position = 258 of 733

More later (Hopefully)

c ya

Sweet. Good luck to you!

I only managed to finish 92nd in the 900 FPP qualifier; top 9 went on to the WCOOP event. I'm not disappointed with that at all. For a 90 FPP investment, I discovered a fun game that is actually turning out to be mildly profitable for me.

2nd break report for my two readers

Still have not lost anyone from out table. I was close to eliminating Pyas. I hit a st8 flush on the turn (yay) and he had the K high flush. Close - but he rivered the nut low with an A5 holding - and I only had the 2nd nut low.

Was doing ok - but 2 hands kiled me. I was up over 4K - but now have dropped to 2200. About 400 of 620. Needs some cards quick.
Actually - I need to find the @#%$#@! fold button a little more often

3rd break - or "holw cow I made it this far???"

Had 2 horrible hands. Had decent high draws - but obviously for only 1/2 the pot. Should have gottne out on both and crippled my stack.

Moved from 600 to ~ 2400 right now. Stack on life support. Need a rush pretty soon.

Also got moved to a different table. No real reads on anyone.

at my table

LuckyTC - Tobias Christenson
twin-caracas - Jorge Arias
Jeff Sandow

crash and burn - 50 min into 4th hour

out in 209th out of 725. Not too shabby considering that these guys were a lot better than the other tournaments that I play in.

AAK8 (one suited ace) vs AA79. No improvement and I go home (needed a K or jack after flop to win).Obviously - cashing would have been nice, but I am satisfied with mst of the hands that Iplayed. Blew probably 2-3K in chips on hands I should have tossed - but seill made it pretty far.

Definately worth the 30-40 bucks I spent on the super to get ther.

Only a year left to practice for the next one,

Not bad - but it is kind of like kissing your sister to play for that long and not cash. Lime my game yesterday - you feel good about playing solid poker and making it past a majority of the field - but not cashing =

Keep plugging and you will hit that final table where the good money is.

Have you played many of the limit tournaments? It seems from your posts that limit would be your strongest game. I know that they get kind of boring - but heck, sitting at a limit cash game is not the most exciting thing either.

Before you slam me - I belive that limit is the best game for making consistent money. I usually have at least one game going. Pays the tourney entries - and then some.

Well my post was kind of a joke... 53/297 against the $5 MTT players is not very good at all. I have played in limit MTTs and, even though limit is by far my best game, it doesn't make much of a difference in a tournament. In a cash game, if I suffer a bad beat, I'll eventually make it back if I sit there long enough. In a tournament, one bad beat usually cripples my stack and I'm out of the tourney - meaning I can't take advantage of the long run against bad players.

My best finishes in tournaments have come in Seven Card Stud... but the bad beats in that game are enough to drive you insane. Trust me, Hold'em bad beats have nothin on 7CS bad beats... you can at least venture a guess as to Hold'em beats, but the ridiculousness of beats in 7CS is through the roof. Like, oh, I dunno... you start with rolled up queens, the bring in stays in with a pair of twos and catches 4s full of 2s on 7th street... capping the betting the whole way. Not that I have his name on my hit list or anything.
