I've played 4 30FPP buy in EPT satellites at poker stars and they're pretty fun.
Out of 250-300 players, I've placed 10th, 46th, 106th, and my best placing was last night. I busted out 3rd, right on the bubble. I was on the short stack with 50K, blinds were 4/8K, I went all in with an A6 and my caller had an A10.
I enjoy these a lot more than the single table sit'n go's for $5 as I seem to get a lot more play for my dollar.
Should I start playing $5 MTT's or will they be a lot different than the FPP satellites?
I also like the higher buyin FPP MTTs. They usually "pay" the final table - so you can build the FPP's more.
As for the $5 MTT - the only real problem with these is that they take forever, and do not pay a lot unless you make the final table. I believe that they have 30 player $5 SnG - which should give you decent experience (starting out anyway) playing the longer games, yet a reasonable payout if you cash.
Kinda tough playing in those MTT's where they only reward the top 2 spots. I prefer the tourneys where if you finish in the top 9% then your in the money. I also play in those FPP tourneys. I entered two 400 FPP tourneys and won 4000 FPP entries into WSOP satellites. I cashed out the FPP from one tourney but played in the other. Was fun having a free shot at a WSOP seat.
I like playing in their $10 + $20 MTT's on occasion for cash. It only takes 1 big win to make your day (and your bankroll).
