The only hand I would ever consider a WOW hand was when I managed to convince everyone in a $5+1 SnG on Party to go all in on the first hand and I hit quad 3s and won.

Interesting hand... and a pretty loose table! Pocket Aces was probably pissed, and what did Pocket Nines think he was doing??

Before the flop: Stupid raise with weak hand utg. Just toss in the muck instead.

After the flop: Well, u got rivered. It happens. Imho, there's lots of stupid plays in this hand. Yours pre-flop, definitly 99 after, Ace were kind of comitted, but with the blinds being so low, but he should have realised he were downt to 2 outs with a check-raise and another call from a guy whom also checked. KQ guy, well...he sure should have folded. Tempting with a huge pot like that, but he had a weak draw with paired board and so many players willing to put chips in the middle. Really stupid to put his existense in play so early with that draw...

Of note, I'm not "complaining" about the river card. I'm one who firmly believes and tells everyone, when you call all-ins, everyone ends up with 7 cards and it doesn't matter the order.

Of note as well, I'm not claiming that my UTG raise or call was the smartest play. I'm not the only one who has ever done this and probably everyone on this site has done that from time to time...that's poker. If poker were about deal out the cards and the percentages always work and you pay out accordingly, then it wouldn't be much of a game.

There's definitely a lot of questionable play post flop. I think mine was pretty good...the only thing I'm trailing is pocket QQ (which was possible)...but who would walk away from a 3x or 4x holding trip J's after the flop. Sometimes, you lose because of your play...sometimes its just because. Often, you never know for sure until the cards are turned over (and sometimes they never are).

You definitely hold your breath as the cards come out knowing its going to be big one way or another.

Michael

OOPS...disregard the previous QQ comment. I was thinking of a different hand. Pocket QQ's didn't have me beat. Only AJ, KJ, QJ had me beat.

of course you had to believe you were ahead on the flop. i agree with others, though, that you never should have seen the flop. in particular, the min-raise UTG is awfully fishy.

the problem is that in the early going there are more loose players that'll make goofy hands against you. there are also more hands out there, so more KQs and AA types.

It is funny how that works out how trash hands that should be folded end up getting you in trouble; you hit your miracle flop yet lost all your chips. You are right, it happens every which way in poker and not always the way the pre-flop statistics work out but raising UTG with garbage is a losing play in the long run...heck maybe even in the short run based on that hand.

But I like your attitude and am glad everyone can have fun with the game whether they win or lose. Personally, I am not good enough to play those garbage hands so I stick to the good ones...I actually have enough trouble with those post flop if I miss completeley or hit middle pair. Ahh, the nuances of texas holdem.

Now how difficult is that - really. This happens every other time on party.
