You went all-in on the turn?? After he called 2 of your raises and then made a continuation bet?! That is...uh...ballsy to say the least. I would've put him on two pair, Ax, most likely AJ, but it sounds like he had a read on you.

Things to note - An ace with weak kicker means that he could also have A3 or A6. No way he is folding that to a reraise. Also - in a $5 SnG, you will find that most players will not lay down a pair of aces no matter what the kicker is.


Pushing all in here is ONLY a good play if you feel that he would fold (semi-bluff). He had already called your flop reraise, so I would have placed little faith in that happening. Also - the pot was so large, that he would probably call regardless since you did not have many chips left to scare him with. Much better off calling and seeing what the river brings. You had position, you still had chips, and the blinds were low enough to attempt a comeback. No reason to risk your tournament right now on a draw.

This is an example of OVER aggression. Tight aggressive is good. Over-aggression is not.

If you look over all of the comments and learn from them, you will bust this guy next time. Keep plugging.

FLOP:
<what I think> fold here, and its an easy fold given what everyone has already stated.
<your situation> you took a shot with a raise, nothing wrong with that IMHO, but were cold called so you have to be worried with the A out there.

TURN:
<what I think> fold here, he called your raise and has bet out again and you only have the river to come.
<your situation> pushing all-in when your opponent has been telling you he has something (compared to your nothing) is something I might do if I had seen him back down from an all-in before, or I was already in the top 3 of the SNG and wanted to take a shot against players I did not hold an advantage over.

That being said, l admire your aggression (however misguided it may have been in this particular case) and willingness to put it all out there. It is like an example straight from Brunsen's Super System 1.

I dunno what your read was on the guy that bet the flop, but that raise seems kinda crazy to me. Most people check to the raiser on the flop, so he probably has the ace. You, on the other hand, have nothing. No draw, no overcards, nothing. There are exactly 0 hands worse than yours that will call that raise.

On the turn though, which is the bet in question, you have to call... you're getting upwards of 5-1.

Fold the flop. It's so obvious I can't see it being a discussion.

Call the turn after the mistake, but no way can you push. 13 outs is only about 26% here, and the guy has you well covered. This is also why you fold the flop. Getting a redraw(s) on the turn isn't that helpful, and in the long run wastes chips in these freezeout situations.

There's still 8 players left, and blinds are still small. Wait for a better spot.
