Chips: 37,262 | | | Ok to send an email to members about the Thursday Tourney? I got an email from the admin of another poker forum, reminding me about the coming tournament. It was detailed and laid out prizes and bonus prizes. Getting it didn't bother me at all despite all the spam I always get.
It made me realize, why don't we do that? Not only for the members that don't know about the tournament, but for the members that usually play and could use a reminder.
Before I did such a thing, I wanted to see if the members think that's spam or not? I would keep it brief, and mainly point to the current week's current post about the tournament. |

Chips: 1,555 | | I suppose that depends on how much work you want to do on this Ten.
Risk of sending out an email about this is that you may end up getting that email sent on by other people to their non-chiptalk friends and soon we'll have a bunch of players that nobody knows and who isn't a chiptalk member. Then the points for the leaderboard would be a bit more difficult to track.
I personally wouldn't mind an email - but then again, I'm the one who sets up the tournaments. |

Chips: 4,248 | | I just started playing in these tournaments but one of the things I enjoy most is that I can chat with people that I have gotten a sense of through their posts. So it seems like I already know a little about them and it is not like playing with complete strangers. This is an important aspect for me because without it there is no motivation for me to play; from what I understand you can make more money playing cash games so the reason people like to play is to play with friends from this forum.
If the email would get more members out then I think it would be a good thing (and I like the idea of keeping the password out of the email) but the last thing I want to see is a massive influx of strangers. That is just my opinion anyway.

Chips: 9,303 | | | I rarely mind getting emails from an organization that I belong to. It's the unsolicited email that clogs my inbox.

There's no reason to not just put the URL to the ppassword page... any non-member will get an error or a message saying registration required. |
