Chips: 7,798 | | | I though we were doing the top 3 finishers of this QToC qualify for the year end ToC.
The year end ToC will be a two table, 18 man event. |

Chips: 1,153 | | | One thought for any open slots this week...or for consideration as a modification to future TOCs...
How about 1 or 2 spots at the table being won by a "satellite" before the tournament? This would allow those who can't make it regularly on Thursday's, are newbies to the group, etc. (and therefore can't win enough points) a chance to play in this event.
Of course, the satellite is only for Chiptalk members.
Another idea is to expand the CT "circuit" and add an event on another night of the week which would provide more options to participate.

Chips: 1,153 | | | I was just reading the discussion topic on the TOC...including talk about entry fees and have a thought to add to my one above...
Use the "satellite" to build up (or even pay for) the TOC prize money. There are lots of ways to slice & dice the satellite money and winning seat, but the bottom line is you can build the TOC pot this way without the players paying for it all (isn't that how many TOC's work...some one else is "sponsoring" much of the prize money).
The only "drawback" I see is someone's complaint/concern that the organizers of the TOC have padding their own wallets this way. I don't see it that way and this isn't really any different than any other satellite system works.

| Oh that is just wrong. I'd like to know who's complained. |

I too would prefer to see 3 qualify for the yearend ToC.
But this was discussed before, and the last official (jojo?) decision I saw was only 1.

If you went the satellite route for awarding a seat or two, I think the idea that the money flows to the final table is a non issue. That's how satellites work. The only decision is whether more money flows in from the satellite seat than from the seats awarded to TOC qualifiers.

Chips: 1,555 | | | I wasn't exactly sure how many from the QToC got into the final year-end ToC - so thus the actual number of qualifiers were not posted. I knew at least the winner would.
If it is indeed 3 then I will correct the posting prior to the QToC this Sunday. |

Chips: 14,006 | | | I also thought the top 3 from the QTOC game qualified for the TOC, and I tried (briefly) to search for that in the other threads (and failed). This means that 12 (or less, with one or more players having multiple QTOC top-3 finishes) qualify for the TOC from the QTOC games, and the remainder qualify on points.
As for the concept of pooling money from the QTOC games to build the TOC game, there is no way to do this on PStars. On PStars, tournament is set, entrants pay their fee, and all prize money is distributed to the players based on the pay-out schedule set by PStars.
For this to work, each of the QTOC players would have to make a separate payment to a designated person (i.e. Chipper or Ten), who then holds the funds until the end of the TOC, then transfers those funds to the winning player(s). Sounds simple in concept, but I could image numerous ways for this to get complicated along the way. For example, does each QTOC player make this separate payment first, in order to receive the password to enter the QTOC game? If not, there is no guaranteed way to get that person's contribution to the pool, and others then cry foul if this payment isn't made.
The alternative, discussed in another thread in more detail, is higher entrance fees for the QTOC games and the final TOC game. This has the same effect of building the prize pool, and effectively forces (1) the weekly winners to forward winnings into the QTOC game, and (2) the QTOC winners to forward winnings into the final TOC game.
Also, I do not get the sense that anyone here is trying to set things up to skim money from the possible prize pool that may be created from these tournaments. Chipper is volunteering his time and efforts to set these tournaments up, jojo and others are volunteering their time to post weekly winning and keep track of data on spreadsheets, and all money put in play has been fairly distributed to the winners (with occasional whining about bad beats and bad play).
I again thank all those that have donated their time and effort to make this a fun schedule of tournaments. Only PStars is making money to serve as the host of our games. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
