This thread is meant to measure interest in taking a poker cruise in 2008 with a bunch of other CTers.
I recently posted a review of my own experience on a recent Players Cruise -
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/card-r...tml#post644455. I posted a couple of updates to it too that aren't yet showing up in thread.
Namely:
There were a couple of WSOP qualifying SNG tourney with a $220 buy-in. The winner wins a cruise for two and a seat in a future 18-player tourney with the winner of that one getting a free seat in the 2008 WSOP. Players Cruise is offering the same tourneys next year.
The Players Cruise folks offered to spread other games, but interest just wasn't there. $5/10 NLHE, $2/4 Limit Hold 'em and H.O.R.S.E. to name a few.
The cruise was a good way to spend time if you love non-stop poker. It was also cool even if you don't want to play non-stop since there's a lot of other stuff to do. Finally, it's really good for spouses and significant others who might not be so interested in poker.
You'll note in the review that I wasn't too fond of Carnival Cruise line. Apparently other folks are also complaining and 1/2 of the 2008 cruises are being offered on Royal Caribbean so that would definitely be my preference for a future cruise.
There are four 2008 Players Cruise dates set so far and 2 are Royal Carribean. A 5-day cruise in January (1/28 - 2/2) out of Fort Lauderdale with prices ranging from $349-547 and a 7-day cruise in October (10/26 - 11/2) out of Fort Lauderdale with prices ranging from $599-839.
What do you guys think? Interested? In either date or would just one work for you? Please respond to the poll and discuss here. I'll answer any questions that I can.
