It is official! Bolgenmod (Lisa) and myself are organizing a meet-up in Atlanta, GA this Spring. This thread will contain all of the details that you need in order to attend the event.
As most of you know, Lisa and I worked behind the scenes to organize the Chicago Meet-Up in October of 2006. There were a large number of people who helped execute the event. It had 27 attendees and was a great success and you can read about it here: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/offici...-6-5-06-a.html
The Atlanta event will be very similar in nature to the Chicago event. I am including as much information as possible below. Some of the information is tentative. All will be finalized before the end of January. Most of it is open for debate and discussion at this time.
Date: Friday, April 13th - Sunday, April 15th, 2007.
Format/Events: There will be several "informal" events on Friday night. They will most likely include dinner and various games at the hotels. Saturday will likely include several ring games, tournies and sng's. Saturday will be highlighted by a deep stack main event tournament. Sunday will be very informal, but will include a variety of sng's and ring games.
Venue: DECIDED - To be announced to attendees only. NOTE: We had zero issues / arguements / conflicts in Chicago. I expect the same in Atlanta. Be on your best behavior. If you get out of line, be prepared to be dealt with quickly and with no uncertain terms.
Accomodations: DECIDED - details posted on private discussion board.
Food: In Chicago, we charged $30 per person for food and beverages. There will be a similar fee for Atlanta. The fee will cover all meals, snacks and beverages for Saturday and Sunday at the main venue. This fee will be specified as the event gets closer is non-negotiable for each attendee. Please budget for it.
Attendees: The Atlanta venue has a capacity of 40 people. Dibs will be given to Chicago attendees, long-standing CT members and whoever else Lisa and I give a green light. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that we may not be able to accommodate everyone. If you are telling us that you want to attend, please plan on attending. If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. If we cannot accommodate everyone, Lisa and I will make the tough decsisons (so start kissing up now). Note: This is an event for ChipTalk members. Please let us if you want to bring your spouse, but please leave your home game buddies at home.
Communications: We will be moving specific details regarding the Atlanta event to a private discussion board for obvious reasons. If you are serious about attending the event, please PM your email address and a 2 page essay explaining why you want to attend the event to me and I'll hook you up. Actually, just your email address will be fine.
One last thought: bolgenmod and I are the primary organizers of this event. It isn't our event. The event belongs to eveyone that wants to attend. However, there will sometimes be tough decisions that will have to be made. Lisa and I reserve the right to make them.
and last, but not least...
