Hello from a Canadian Noob!

Hi everyone. I've been a member for only a couple of weeks, but I thought I'd make my first official post here.

I found this forum while looking for my first set of chips and I have to say that I've caught the "poker chip" bug. I was ready to buy a set of Nexgen Pro Classics from a local retailer before I saw the pre-order for the Pharaoh's. I've since ordered a 750-chip set and I am absolutely stoked for them to arrive. I've already planned a home tourney for early Feb. (Am I glad I took a pass on the Nexgen's!!!). Since then, it's been a twice-daily login to check for new posts and familiarize myself with the site.

Poker is huge here in Canada, but darn if I can find a local game here in Markham (suburb of Toronto), or a half-decent retailer of Poker equipment and supplies. Thankfully, I've got the internet and some great U.S. sites. Now, I only worry about shipping costs and customs.

Thanks,
John

Re: Hello from a Canadian Noob!

Welcome to CT I'm Canadian as well, and shipping and customs aren't too bad. Just make sure get sellers to use USPS shipping instead of UPS shipping when ordering from the States. That alone will save you hundreds of $$$ if you plan on buying a lot!

And yeah, be prepared to work for chips from now on

If you're willing to drive to Toronto, there's a few games here that I could tell you about. Welcome to CT!

Hi. Come on in. Welcome to Chiptalk. Today we'll have good ol' chinese beef Schetzuan style with some super hot sauce and some spring rolls. Prepare to lose a lot of money and gain a lot of chips....

Good to have you here.
