I assume that at least one of the following is true:

• He posted something else that was deleted by mods and resulted in his being banned;
• His IP address (and presumably his person) is the same as somebody else that was perma-banned in the past;
• He went ape in a PM conversation with a mod/admin regarding WTB rules;
• It was a mistake.

It seems it was a duplicate account (detected by an email duplication).

And for the record (about records):
Bruce Lee was banned after one post also.
