Chips: 64 | | | New Member ready for 12 step program Hello Everyone...My name is Steve and it's been 7 days since I last bought some chips.
It was about 15 years ago that I got my first Paulson chip set. I had a profitable Sunday afternoon at the BJ table Caesars Palace Las Vegas. As I'm rushing through McCarran Airport to catch a plane back to the Bay Area, I walk past a luggage shop that had a few gifts in the window along with some great looking Poker Chips. I had long wanted to replace the cheap blue plastic poker chips that I had been using for years.
Being in a hurry to catch my plane, in 5 minutes, I buy two 500 piece sets of "Scandia Casino", the fantasy chips that were made by Paulson. One set for me, and one set for my gambling partner. I was sort of shocked at the price when the clerk told me that my total came to $800 + tax for just 1000 chips.
With that big wad of cash in my pocket that I had gotten from Caesars, I said, "What the Hell!".
15 years go by and I don't think about buying any additional chips, until one afternoon 45 days ago. A web link brought me to ChipTalk.net, and after 2 hours of looking at all the Beautiful Chips and Monster Chip Collections that the ChipTalk members have, I contracted a serious "Mental Sickness" ..."Chip Addiction" that came thru my computer screen from looking at photos of the members chip sets. First...I thought about increasing the size of the "Scandia Casino" set that I bought some 15 years earlier. Searching ChipTalk and Ebay only turned up a very small lot of Scandia Casino chips.
With no particular goal or chip set in mind, during the next 35 days....I buy half a dozen sample chips sets from various companies along with the following chips.
100 Vineyards $5 Chips Paulson
80 Longhorn Casino 50 cent chips Paulson
400 "Chips Casino" set Paulson
400 "Chips Casino" set Chipco
1450 Dunes Commemorative set
200 Le Cove 50 cent chips Paulson
50 Le Cove $20 chips Paulson
160 El Dorado Quarters Paulson
200 Palms Casino LV $1 Chip Paulson
200 Isle of Capri 50 cent chips Paulson
100 MGM Detroit Quarters Paulson
50 Fabulous Las Vegas $5 chips Paulson
40 Casino de Isthmus $1 chips Paulson 98
50 Casino de isthmus $5 chips Paulson 98
200 Casino de Mexico 1Value Paulson
50 Casino de Mexico 10 Value Paulson
I can see how someone can easily end up with 10's of thousands of chips
in their collection. This is worse than drugs or gambling!
With drugs....you overdose.
With gambling....you go broke.
With chip collecting....you have to move out of your house into a bigger
home with more storage space. (the new ex-wife will stay in the old house
with your kids)
I have sold a few of the chips to pay down my credit card. (so I can buy
more great chips)
A Warning Sign should be put on the home page of Chiptalk.net....
ENTERING THIS WEBSITE MAY CAUSE YOU TO GET DIVORCED AND GO BROKE!
Happy Chipping!

Chips: 410 | | | Re: New Member ready for 12 step program Here's the problem. You weren't supposed to find chiptalk. You were supposed to think you were the only person in the world who likes chips, get depressed, sell them on ebay for a very low "buy-it now" price (not knowing the true value) then a week later, find this websight, get addicted to chips, realize you let the best set you may ever own slip through your fingers, then.....and only then do you begin to overspend on chips to end up with chips that are never quite as nice as the ones you let slip away.........and everyone lives happily ever after.
*Exept you! Happy are the one who got a great deal on your chips and the people who sold you your new ones.
At least that's how I entered the scene....
Congratulations on "not selling" your 1st set.

Yes, it's a sickness. And 12 steps are definitely needed to control it.
1. Admit you have a problem
2. Admit you love having this problem!
3. Get samples and small lots of everything
4. Buy bigger sets
and so on. I don't dare continue typing or I'll start shaking and bidding on eBay....
Let's see some pr0n! |
