They are both very soothing pictures. This must be very relaxing as well as rewarding. Great job and excellent example of following your passion.

Re: Bluebonnets and Sunset

I really like the movement of the horizon against the stillness of the trees. I love those colors. I like that the color is not muted and how the painting as a whole feels "cool" (as opposed to warm), which seems to me to be a kind of play on expectations (for a sunset). It gives your subject a freshness.

Thanks for sharing.

Very "cool" feeling. I like that you actually have a light reference on the trees and that the shadows follow them. So many forget that. Very nice job.

Re: Bluebonnets and Sunset

Thanks for the comments, everyone. ttflyr....for me - painting is definitely relaxing and rewarding, and I enjoy it so much. I'm not a great painter by any means, but I love to paint anything and everything. Several of my friends like to paint one favorite subject, such as flowers or western style or Tuscany etc. - I'm kinda weird though, because I like to paint all kinds of things (or try to anyway).

The sunset on the top is another one that I did in about two hours (in a workshop). Anyone who knows me knows that I don't normally paint that fast. One of the very first ones that I did - took me three months, but it was also a larger canvas, 24X36......

Thanks again for the comments.....
