Chips: 1,517 | | | closed Please note that it is strictly prohibited to use my chip mockup pictures to order chips through another vendor or manufacturer. You can alter my mockup pictures and use them to order semi-custom chips through MrChip Casino Supplies only, not through any other company. Furthermore it is not allowed to post my mockup pictures, in original or altered form, on the internet or to spread them through any other form of media. You may however keep personal copies of them, on your harddrive or recordable media, to protect your own work from being lost or damaged. Legal measures will be taken against anyone that attempt to steal my mockup pictures or use them as a base for another, almost identical, line of chips and thereby damage my company market potential.

Chips: 2,139 | | | Re: Copyright Notice I can see why someone would need a notice like this, but having read the other WSOP thread of yours it would appear that you are already marketing someone else's design, or at least something very, very close to it.
Unless you designed the original WSOP BJ chips yourself that is.
Given that there isn't anything particularly original about the WSOP chips that you are marketing, your statement about taking legal action if someone tries to steal your designs seems a little, er, rich.
Or maybe I'm missing something. |

Or maybe I'm missing something. | Sorry if I came across like that. I can understand how something like this easily can be misunderstood. This is what I mean:
Let's say Bostonpokerchips.com were about to release his 2005 versions of the WSOP chips and I quickly steal his designs and release the chips before him through my own company. That is the kind of thing I'm trying to protect myself from. You see, the WSOP and EPT chips are my only two products at this time. If I lost them now I wouldn't have anything to sell. And since I'm about to make my original mockups available to those interested in semi-customized WSOP chips I just thought I'd make it clear that you are not allowed to post my pictures on the internet or have your chips made, based on my designs, through another vendor. I hope this explains where I'm coming from.
Best regards,

Matt | His point is they arent your designs, they are replicas... If you can do it so can someone else? How is it any different?

Chips: 2,139 | | | Re: Copyright Notice I can accept the point on the images. You own the images and I guess you can stop other people using them to compete with you without your permission.
But in terms of the design, if I put out a design that is almost exactly the same as yours, you'd be hard pressed to seriously accuse me of stealing your design, since I could have been stealing any one of the many other WSOP knock offs that are available. Just like you did yourself in fact.
When you come up with your own design from scratch, then you'll be in a great position to defend it from anyone who tried to take advantage of it. Although, even then, you've already ser a precident of trying to make money out of other people's designs, so you can hardly claim the high ground when someone does the same to you.
More constructively, if you really do want to be in a strong position with regards copyright, you should probably give up the clones route and come up with something yourself. I'd then absolutely support your right keep the designs for your own use. |

Chips: 1,517 | | | Re: Copyright Notice When I talk about my designs I mean the actual images that I've created, not the edgespot patterns or the color combinations or the overall "look" of the chips. I have changed "my designs" to "my mockup pictures" in the original post. I apologize for the confusion.

I would also like to say that my mockup pictures were created from scratch in an attempt to replicate the WSOP chips made by Bud Jones. My mockup pictures are not based on anyone elses mockup pictures and I'm not trying to replicate any other home market vendors WSOP replicas. I hope that this clear things up. Thanks for the heads up.
