Message boards are all about the comments and opinions of people who share the same common interest. When we place a message in this board, we should expect some type of response, let it be good or bad.

For example, what if a new member joined chiptalk with the intent to sell his set of 500 Trademark Paulsons for $1000 (slight exaggeration, but someone tried this on ebay)? Or, what if someone got ripped off by a member selling in m2m sales? It would be in our best interest to comment on his post in hopes of protecting the newbies and others in this forum.

As a poster in an m2m forum, we have 3 ways we can deal with negative comments on our sale:

1) ignore the comments
2) politely say "sorry, the price is firm" or "please PM me any counter offers"
3) list somewhere else (ebay, etc...)

In no way did I feel that kybill's offer was way off base or warranted the name calling that he received.
I'm receiving mixed messages from your post. You conclude by saying that KYBill did not deserve to be subjected to namecalling in his thread, but you don't think we should have rules against such? I think that constructive posts, though they might be negative, should be permitted, but no member should have to tolerate being called a "prick" or "jack off" just because someone doesn't agree with the terms of their sale.

You know, I've seen more bashing in the M2M sales area than anywhere else on this fine forum. It's supposed to be a benefit to members wanting to sell something poker related, there is nothing in the rules that state you have to justify what you're asking. After seeing the beating Fetish girl took a few weeks ago and now the posting today I am hesitant to list anything in that area. A bummer for me as I have some things I want to sell. I didn't know that someone listing a set of chips for sale was subject to being criticized by other forum members at their leisure, and feel that the remarks in the posts today in M2M were in bad taste at the very least.

If you don't want what's offered at the price it's offered at, make a counter offer without becoming offensive. If you don't want to make a counter offer, I think you should keep your thoughts to yourself.

I'm going to wait and see if that area clears up before I list anything - don't want the hassle of having people tell me what they think my stuff is worth when I have it priced fairly anyway.

Let me clarify myself...we should not have any rules set forth limiting the comments and opinions of someones m2m sales as long as the comments and opinions are absent of anything degrading or disrespectful.

For us to not comment on a particular sale that we strongly feel one way or the other is against what a message board is all about.

Yes, I agree. That sounds like what is needed. It is essentially what I intended to suggest in the first place.

The fact that we have to qualify exactly what is and isn't acceptable... kind of makes it sound something like a rule, though, no?

My intial post was never to counter what you said, but to clarify and add to your comment. My post was never intended to be a rule that should be set in writting, but merely the opinion of one chiptalk member.

I got a lot of chips for this topic. Yippeee!!

I think my initial post was vague you clarified my point precisely. I get the sense that you may feel I am trying to argue with you, but I think we're actually very close to being on the same page.

I think we agree on what content should and shouldn't be allowed for posting in this section. I think we differ in that I feel this should be a written rule whereas you feel it should not. Is that accurate?

No harm done, I never thought you were trying to argue, but I just wanted to make sure you knew that I was not trying to counter anything you said either.

You are right, I don't think it should be written. Not including anything degrading or disrespectful in posts SHOULD be common sense. I think the other members will react to such actions in a way that will allow this message board to police itself.
