HELL NO! I have no idea what gave you that impression, but feel free to go into more detail, the more Dan bashing the better in my view.
|

LOL - I have only dealt with them on this one issue. As a result - I will probably never deal with them again - so I can't say whether "Dan bashing" is merited or not.
Did you have a bad experience with them too!?
Basically the detail is he said I was nuts wanting 12 denominations. "No Casino in the WORLD carries 12 denominations!", he wrote. I am not a Casino Inventory specialist but:
a. I find it hard to believe that NO casino stocks more than 12 denominations of poker chips. When you see 50K, 100K and 200K plaques being tossed around in the same casino that surely has $1 "cheques" and up!!
b. I don't give a Rats @ss if there ISN'T a casino out there carrying 12! These are HOME GAME chips!!! I'm not a !@$% casino and I wanted denominations to cover the gambit of games that I play; from small "real money" buy-ins to the full scale of fantasy stack tourneys.
If our poker crew wanted to fit in a quick tourney in the middle of the day and we want $800 starting - I wanted the denomination range. If we wanted to have a longer $1000 to $5000 - I wanted the range. if we had 15 players for a day $10K works great. If we were limited on players and wanted to play a HUGE 100 to 150 chip count 1mil stack - Then I wanted the range! I am going to spend my money
once for custom chips - I wanted the range to cover all expected play.

- OK - I've vented!!! (P.S. - THANKS for the comment on 12 denominations!)

I only asked because of your design (face wrap).
|

ops: - Excellent Eye! (OK so I DID get one thing from TheChipStore.com) - I "borrowed" one of their face wrap designs. I guess that means they WERE actually good for something!
Because Chipco face Wraps RARELY match up with the rolling edge spots - I wanted to make sure that my face wrap design was dinstinctly separate from the edge spots. This wrap served two purposes.
1.) It was definately a distinct entity, separate from my edge spot design.
- and-
2.) As you can see - my design is based on Family Heraldry. Maxwell -> Scottish. The Chipco "Casino" design lookes like a Scottish shield called a Targe. This face wrap adds to that design feel as it looks very similar to the rivet design on actual bucklers/targes. (Ok - I was reaching but I liked the overall look - Don't tell Dan that something of his was actually good.

What kind of samples did they send you if they weren't 'actual Chipcos'?!?
|
1 Was! It wasn't too bad quality.
However the other 2 were some unknown thing! (I think I said I got 4 samples - WRONG - only 3! So 3 weeks delivery for 3 chips!)
These two are some injection molded chip - unknown manufacturer - the standard 11.5 gram metal insert manufacture. Very similar to a Neophyte or Soprano with the plastic/composite being much harder (about the feel of a 4-aces) rather than the more soft/rubber/clay of the other two. They each had a center print that was printed separately and glued/pressed into the center. The edge spots are all white and the paint wrap sucked (looked like a tiawan import!!!) They
ARE NOT shown on their site and further destroyed my confidence in their abilities!
Thanks J5 - Good to vent with someone on the whole issue. Do you charge for chip therapy!?

they are nice but not as nice as The Condado Beach Chips....
|
Personal Opinion - Both are GREAT quality and I actually like the Scandia fantasys look better. PLUS - $2 a chip for the Scandia vs. $5/chip for Conado. However - I agree, Condado IS sweet!
