Chips: 16 | | | I pride myself on honestly describing the chips I sell. These are without a doubt real, authentic Bud Jones chips, guaranteed. They cost around $1.55 per chip to casinos to have manufactured. This style of coin in center Bud Jones chip has been recently discontinued (not even casinos can buy them now). No Bud Jones chip was ever manufactured for home use, strictly for casinos.
These chips are from the Grand Casino, located in Mullet Bay, St Maarten, the Dutch Antilles. The Grand Casino was destroyed by hurricane Luis in 1995 and the casino was looted. These chips were left behind because they were perceived as worthless and have sat untouched in the ruble since then. They were recently rediscovered and sold by a local who realized that they would be worth something to home poker players. |

Chips: 1,728 | | Can't really blame them. When some kid comes in on a first posting with embellishments that sound like an eBay posting, I think these guys may just be looking out for themselves and the welfare of other members by pointing out the fallacies in the boy's story.
Do you really think that a casino would have paid $1.55 for a coin center BJ? They don't even pay that much today for low denom chips that don't have RFID in them.
I think the reaction may have just been to the presence of an ever growing nose and not unsubstantiated. Quote: |

Chips: 16 | | | Like I said, I try to be honest and not embellish the chips I am trying to sell. I said the chips cost $1.55 to manufacture because they do. I called GPI to confirm this. Some other sellers claim that the manufacturing costs are even higher. The Grand Casino did not use Bud Jones chips that were less than $5 for normal play, they used cheaper Paulson and ChipCo chips for $1 and $2.50 and thus the $1.55 cost is justified. The story I gave on the hurricane destroying the casino etc was confirmed not only by the seller of the chips (who is located in St Maarten) but also two members of the CC>CC.
I can understand your apprehension to believe a new member whos trying to sell $740 worth of chips, but just because you are unfamiliar with Bud Jones chips you guys neednt call me a liar. I have sold many thousands of casino chips and have a good repore with many Chiptalk members.
