Re: ChipTalk's "Bare Bones Home Poker Rule Sheet"

ok here comes the newbie question what is rabbit hunting? I am willing to bet it is not what I am thinking since what I am thinking involves a gun and a spotlight chasing rabbits at night....Jason

Re: ChipTalk's "Bare Bones Home Poker Rule Sheet"

Rabbit hunting is when a guy folds on the turn or river, surrendering the pot, but still wants to see what the turn/river card was to see if they would have won.

I let guys do it occasionally because it will sometimes send a guy on tilt!!

I myself will never ask for one.

I'm slowly getting the guys to stop stuff like this. The pot generally doesn't get splashed, but it's not too much of an issue. Only one or two them make string bets now, and I'm trying to get them out of that habit. The rest of us will pretty much verbally declare most bets/raises first, and not "I call and I raise blah".

I've gotten the min bet/raise thing working, and it gets enforced when needed But I'm not sure about one thing - initial bets on a round of betting. It has to be at least the BB (for NL), but if they want to make it more than that would they have to go with 2xBB or just any amount above it? For example, big blind is 200, and they want to bet 300. I've just let that go for now because I'm not sure what the actual rule would be. Not much of a concern for me, because I'm not a fan of minimum raises

Re: ChipTalk's "Bare Bones Home Poker Rule Sheet"

Pre flop with blinds at 100/200 the minimum raise is to 400 -

After the flop the minimum bet is 200, but 300 may be bet if it's the initial offering for that round of betting. The difference here being that pre-flop it's a raise because the blinds took care of the initial bet, and post flop the first action is the initial bet....

Re: ChipTalk's "Bare Bones Home Poker Rule Sheet"

Ah, thanks. I didn't specify, but I did mean post-flop for that situation. Pre-flop we've got figured out

Re: ChipTalk's "Bare Bones Home Poker Rule Sheet"

I figured that much just wanted to point out the difference - Hope my explanation didn't offend you mentioning the pre-flop situation - I felt it made the difference between the two situations clearer to define.
