Ruling???

This came up. We play 3/6 FL with blind of 1/3, button raise and SB puts $1 chip on top of his $1 blind and then decides to muck his card. He wants to take back the $1. Yes or No?

Re: Ruling???

I think death by guillotine is an appropriate measure. Then the $1 is a moot point.

Re: Ruling???

That's 2/3 of the bet, so I'd say it's a call. Make him put the last buck in and play his hand.

Re: Ruling???

Are you using a Chiptalk.net table topper? That betting line comes in handy. Money placed over the betting line is IN THE POT.

Re: Ruling???

If there was no verbal declaration, and assuming his blind is over any imaginary betting line, then he indicated a call by putting another chip on his blind. Even though it's short the required amount, it's still a call and he owes another chip.

EDIT: OK, now I see there was a raise in front of him so he's not just calling. Then I think this falls under the rule that if you make a mistake in calling when you don't understand there was a raise in front, you can take back the call and fold.

Re: Ruling???

For a home game I would let him pull the $1 back in order to avoid a grudge vibe at the table.

Re: Ruling???

why would you want to start a problem over $1 in a game where the average pots, i guess, are $25+?

i just don't get it. let him take his chip back and move on.
