Chips: 272 | | | Who Shows 1st at Showdown I did not see this in Robert's Rules, but it just may be because I'm blind. I did find it elsewhere.
From Poker TDA Rules found here : http://www.pokertda.com/rules.pdf
Help interpret the above rule based on the following situation in a NLHE tournament.
BB and the Button are in a hand.
Turn: BB checks. Button bets and BB calls.
River: Both players check.
My interpretation is that since there was no bet on the last round of betting (in this case the river) then it should be the player clockwise after the button to show 1st (in this case the BB).
So, my question is : Who is required to show 1st?
And are there any other "official" rules that require the person that was the last aggressor to show 1st, which in this case would be the Button? |

The Showdown 8. If everyone checks (or is all-in) on the final betting round, the player who acted first is the first to show the hand. If there is wagering on the final betting round, the last player to take aggressive action by a bet or raise is the first to show the hand. In order to speed up the game, a player holding a probable winner is encouraged to show the hand without delay. If there are one or more side pots (because someone is all-in), players are asked to aid in determining the pot winner by not showing their cards until a pot they are in is being settled. A player may opt to throw his hand away after all the betting for the deal is over, rather than compete to win the pot. However, the other players do not lose the right to request the hand be shown if he does so. http://www.pokercoach.us/RobsPkrRules11.mht I'm not aware of any rule that involves going back to previous rounds. Your interpretation that the BB shows first is consistent with this rule. |

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: Who Shows 1st at Showdown This is always a source of confusion. We use three simple restatements of the rules:
1. If there's a raise on the river, the last one to raise must show first.
2. If there's a bet but no raise, the initial bettor must show first.
3. If everybody checks, then the first to check must show first.
Once the "show first" shows his cards, everyone else shows in clockwise order from there. |

Once the "show first" shows his cards, everyone else shows in clockwise order from there. | Now that really clears things up for me.
Thanks Tomb. Go Seahawks!

Chips: 15 | | | Re: Who Shows 1st at Showdown im a casino dealer, if the river is checked all the way out, the closest left of the dealer button shows first, the one who bets or raises and thats called, shows it first, unless the other/s want to show quick, usually people with boats or quads or str8 flushes show fast wheither they show first or not.
im basically a broken record to tomb's reply |
