Rule Question

Last night 100$ buy-in tourney at the house and had a situation at final table that i wanted to verify. I was up from table for second saying seeya to player leaving when it happened and caught just tail end of the action.

2 players see flop. first of the 2 to act after the flop insta all-ins. while second player is thinking about it the dealer says 21...... Player thinking then instantly calls.
the player who went all in then moves his chips in (was 21000 but only small handful of chips with 4 5000's and 1000) so easily not seen stack behind his arms).

Player quickly says i thought is was 2100.... and states he didnt realize it becuase he couldnt see the players stack and because deal said 21 he didnt ask to see the stack.

well the call was made and dealer appologized for the miss undersatnding (and also stated it would be hard to be 2100 when we colored off the 100's about 15 (or less) minutes earllier).

Pretty sure right ruling was made but wanted to verify there were no miss understanding of action rules i was missing here.

BTW house was the Winner just under 1300$$... if i didnt have to help mother in law get rid of a tree growing roots through her old michigan basement.. ..it would be more chips for me

Re: Rule Question

Because the 100's were colored up, the only possible interpretation is 21000 and the play stands as it happened.

Just tell your buddy that he needs to pay a little better attention to details and what is going on in the game.

Re: Rule Question

I would think that it is player who is comptemplating a call to notice how much it is to call the bet, and verbal action is binding, I would say he is out 21K

Re: Rule Question

Player who called, puts 21K in chips in the pot especially since there were not any $100 chips on the table.

Re: Rule Question

The player said "All in"
That means all his chips.

Regardless of the dealers error, the player should have asked for a specific count if his chip stack was in question. The Dealer said "21". 21 what? Cheeseburgers? 21 minutes 'till meltdown? 21 chips? It's technically the dealers error, but the action should still stand. The player said "all in" (which means *ALL* his chips, and the following action (player) said "call".

Put the chips in the middle, get the stacks straight, flip the cards up and run the board out.

and thats what we did..... , and then better yet the guy who won the pot gave the chips couple hands later to someone alot easier to get them from. WHO gave them all to me later...

BTW many more wisky players get helped off the field today, wont be many to dress against the skunkbears next week.....

Re: Rule Question

I don't see how the ruling could have gone any other way. As you said the chips were not hidden behind his arms and it was just a few high value chips. If the caller had any doubts, he should have asked.
