Chips: 101 | | | Ruling on dropped deck? Saw this over at RGP and was not satisfy with the answers there.
Cards are dealt and there have been plenty of preflop action already, raises and reraises ending up HU. The dealer was ready to deal the flop when a passerby knocks his elbow and the deck went flying all over the place, including mixing up with the muck. What would be the proper ruling on how to continue??? Over at RGP, misdeal and give everybody their chips back. I feel that is not right. I think the dealer should gather all the cards including the mucked cards and reshuffle and continue the game as action has alread happened. As it was, one player had AA and the other had QQ (doen't really matter.) |

I can only imagine that if betting were not concluded there would have been a misdeal...but that is mere conjecture on my part... |

14.25. Improperly Dropped Deck
If the deck is dropped by the dealer, regardless of reason, the dealer shall pick the deck back up and continue to use it if at all possible, and if the top of the deck can be determined. If the correctness and integrity of the deck is questioned by any player or is otherwise in doubt, then a floorperson shall be called. The dealer shall then reshuffle the unused cards and cut them. Cards known to be discards shall not be included in this reshuffle, nor shall any cards that were burned. Cards which might or might not be part of the discards, but which cannot be determined shall be deemed discards and shall not be reshuffled. After cutting, the dealer shall continue the deal, including all requisite burns.
| The deck in this situation sounds really FUBARed. So if I was the floorperson, I might include all of the cards in the reshuffle. |

All the remaining cards including the mucked cards should be shuffle and continue playing. The agrument over at RGP was that the mucked cards could not be identified and they said no way the mucked cards should be included in the stub. |

Chips: 375 | | | Re: Ruling on dropped deck? I'm with Cooke on this one... if you can ID the top of the deck, and a decent enough stub to burn and deal out, go for it. Any cards that are non known to be in the stub, don't get put back into the stub for a reshuffle (if needed). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
