i am looking for suggetstions on an ante. this is for a cash game btw. i have 10 cent chips that i dont think will ever be used again so i was trying to get them into the game. we normally play .25/.25 but sometime .25/.50 or .50/1.00 i would assume the ante would be to much in the .25/.25 and even the .25/.50 but i think it might be ok for the .50/1.00. what do you guys think, any ideas would be appreciated.
.10 is a fine ante for .25/.25. It seems like you're just looking for an excuse to use a chip, and hey this is site for chip maniacs so that's fine. The normal advice would be if you're looking to add an ante in a flop game you really need to raise your stakes.
You could just add a stud game where an ante is right at home.
We play .10/.25 with my nickle and quarter chips. It's not really a pain at all with nickles and I'm sure would be even easier with dime chips.

i thought about playing .10/.25 but it seemed i would need to get a rack of nickels also. ok so it would make sense for the small blind to just pull back the dime. but they couldnt call leaving the dime in there(unless the bet was .50)
ok so i am going to try the ante tonight during a .25/50 game. i just have one ?....if everyone posts the ante then is the .10 dead or live. i believe it is dead (meaning you have to call all .50 still) is this correct. also do the blinds post an ante? i would think they should. i am not to experienced on using antes so any help would be great....
It is dead, the ante goes into the pot in the middle, don't forget everyone has to ante including the blinds. Anyone wanting to see the flop will have to call the 50 cents bb.
