Chips: 2,295 | | | Home tourney : rebuys yes or no? In our home game we started to allow unlimited rebuys up to the fourth or fifth blind level, where you get the recent short stack for the original buy in.
Well, I think to get the short stack is a pretty stupid idea, but my buddies like it. It totally sucks in my opinion.
Generally I have divided thoughts about rebuys, on one hand it's really nice when you bust out very early to start again. On the other it, rebuys really stretch the tourney.
So I think the best way would be one rebuy per player. The record in our game was a guys who rebought in three times.
But my general question is, do you allow rebuys in your home game?

Chips: 1,202 | | | Re: Home tourney : rebuys yes or no? It really depend. If we short on time than no re-buy otherwise, out of 10-12 people we allow 2 re-buy. Just for those that are on tilt early in the hand or bad beat. |

Chips: 273 | | | Re: Home tourney : rebuys yes or no? We allow one re-buy through the fourth level w/no minimum chip requirement. Also, one add-on through the sixth level. This allows the lesser-skilled players or those having a bad night to play longer. It also increases the payouts significantly! |

A) Go home
B) Wait for a cash game to start
C) Pretend you're Norman Chad and do some live commentary.
C is my preferred choice after busting out.

Chips: 248 | | | Re: Home tourney : rebuys yes or no? Depends on who's playing and how much time we have. If it's a more casual group, then usually re-buys are allowed during the first three levels only. I play a T10000 most occasions. It does build the prize pool, but also changes the strategies used in the game.
If it's a group of more experienced, "serious" players, then usually it's unanimous - NO! Everybody thinks it sucks when one of the re-buys ends up taking first place over someone that never re-bought (except the winner!) so any early bust-outs share dealing responsibilities and wait for the next game. |

It is always one rebuy. I play with some really tight guys in a slow structure so there are not many rebuys to drag things out. Quote:

C is my preferred choice after busting out. | That sounds like cheating.

But my general question is, do you allow rebuys in your home game? | In both "leagues" I host, we used to have unlimited re-buys until the 1st break (~ 1.5 hours in). However, a couple of wealthier and extremely LAG players took advantage (if you can call it an advantage) by going all-in whenever there was a decent starting pot, and would just keep re-buying - usually resulting in a big chip lead (from when they finally do manage to double or triple up) when we hit the break. The record was 5 re-buys by one player (has happened twice; once in each league).
BTW, re-buys were only available if/when you busted out, and you got the original starting stack of chips for the original buy-in cost.
For the "big" tournament "donkaments", I've changed the rule to 1 re-buy per player until the break, plus a 1/2-starting stack add-on (for half the buy-in cost) at the break. This way, it takes away the power differential between wealthy players and those who can just afford to play, and if you're short-stacked going into the break, you can add-on to get back in it (there used to be a lot of all-ins at the break so that short-stacks could re-buy before it was too late; I've been known to do this myself).
I still have unlimited re-buys for the single-table (8-max) league... and last month a new player tied the record for re-buys and was still 1st or 2nd to bust out... I finished 1st, so I didn't mind.
