But I prefer the "shuffle ahead" method as described above, where the big blind shuffles. The BB is last to act so it gives him more time to shuffle, plus there is no passing across. Just one move to the right and the (old) SB can take the cards, get them cut by the (old) button, and deal away. And no cheating. | WERD! |

I deal 100% of the time when I play, most people hate to deal. This is the reason how I've learned to play poker. |

We run four decks (all four different colored Copags). The person who will deal shuffles their own deck. They offer it up to either side of them to cut (depending on who is in a hand at the time).
Usually, when one person busts out (when we play tournaments) they become the dealer. On the first bust out, the players keep shuffling and handing them off to the dealer. Once we lose a second, the newest busted deals and the other shuffles for a while. They will bounce back and forth and absorb busted players into the dealing mix. This may change now that I have a dedicated cash set on the way!!
With four decks, we can keep a pretty good flow going, even though we have some who aren't the best shufflers in the world (they are getting better though).
That said, I did just pick up several decks of gently used casino KEMs that are great! The only problem is they are either green or brown backs. We may have to back off to a two deck game . |

For most of our games we just have one deck in play (less stuff on the table).

Our regular home game is all casino dealers, so we all shuffle and cut the cards ourselves when it's our turn - we don't bother with a dealer button, as it seems redundant, the guy dealing is the dealer. that and ironically, when we did use a button, all 7 of us dealers would never bother to move the button, so we just got rid of it. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
