This is "in general." I understand that in some games no one cares. I understand that it depends on who shuffled, but that's a different poll.
I understand it might change in some situations, but in general do you offering the cut: To the right, left, or dealer cuts? |

If using two decks and the person behind the current button was shuffling, they should hand the deck to the current dealer, who cuts, and passes to the next dealer. That's what I would think anyways. My bar game I run, they don't even cut the cards after shuffling. I always tell them they can (anyone really), but no one seems to care in a free bar tourney.

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: Offering a cut: To the right, left, or dealer cuts? Yeah, to the right is the standard.
I actually prefer the dealer cut his own cards in full view (like at a casino), but most people don't like this. |

Chips: 362 | | | Re: Offering a cut: To the right, left, or dealer cuts? In a game with no dedicated dealer, it is to the right. In a game with a dedicated dealer, he cuts it himself. However, In some of our "casual games", we just cut ourselves so everyone sees it. |

In a casino, it's understood that the dealer (who's not in the game) does everything. In a casino, no player should touch the deck, so the dealer scrambles, shuffles, and cuts the cards himself.
In a home game, you are trying to prevent several things with who shuffles and who cuts. Two things to prevent that I can think of are "stacking" the deck, and exposing marked cards on top of the deck. |

It looks like a relatively affordable home shuffler may finally be on the way, though. http://www.proshuffler.com/
They said they plan to have their in-table unit ready by the WSOP in 2008.
I asked them if I could do a review for Chiptalk, if I paid a security deposit, to use the unit on loan.
If they write me back, I'll let JoJo know I'm working on a review. |

Chips: 111 | | | Re: Offering a cut: To the right, left, or dealer cuts? I do most of the dealing and use to offer the deck to the player to the right of the button for a cut. Now I or whoever is dealing just cut the deck unless requested by the player right of the button. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
