misdeals (Phil Hellmuth example)

I don't know much about misdeals, because I play mostly online,
but I was reading an article on event 28 and quite don't understand what happened there.

Quote:
I was lucky one hand, when I picked up A-K, A-8 moved all-in, I called and won; but the guy right behind me had his king exposed face up, and he would have had K-K and busted me. Saved by a misdeal!!!

Re: misdeals (Phil Hellmuth example)

Misdeal is a fault by the dealer or someone else who reveals a card when dealing.

Mostly the dealer throws a card to the player an it flips over. in this case it would be a king. and the first card the guy was actually holding was the other king.

If the dealer / player reveals a card he will get a new one and the misdealed card will by placed face up so that everyone can see it until the hand is over.

hope i could help you with my poor english....

Re: misdeals (Phil Hellmuth example)

In most cases, the exposed card will replace the normal burn card before the flop is dealt. The player will then receive the burn card after everyone else receives their cards. I believe if 2 or more cards are exposed preflop, then the entire hand must be redealt. I could be wrong on this last point though.

As usual you are not wrong. Also, it is a misdeal if either the 1st or 2nd card dealt is exposed (which is the 1st card dealt to the Small blind and Big blind respectively).

Re: misdeals (Phil Hellmuth example)

I actually didn't know this rule until I experienced it over Memorial day weekend in Vegas. I was the person whose card got exposed
When the dealer didn't give me one right away I was confused - He explained the rule and gave me a giving me instead of

Needless to say I was happy with the rule

In the home games I have played in we just give the next card to the player who had the card exposed - I need to change the way we play I guess
J

BTW - I ended up losing the hand to trip 6's
