Chips: 1,244 | | | Delegation at your home game.... My home game has gotten pretty consistantly bigger over the last 18 months....we now average about 15 players weekly...
Standard timing is,
dinner @ 6:30
clock starts @ 7:30
we usually finish the buy-in process [late] by 7:45 and start playing around 8 (clock has been running)
Color-ups after round 3 (20 minute blinds)...2 tables running, rebuys for the first 3 rounds, optional add-on after round 3 if your stack is below $x...
it's quite a bit of work....refilling the fridge, getting the food served, TV, volume, A/C, fixing the head, refilling the ice bucket, etc....on top of the TD stuff.......
I've noticed my game have suffered SEVERELY due to all this running around...the last 2 years, I came in first place in the league, this year, I'm dead last of the 'regulars'...I'm no Hellmuth, but I should be better than that..
I think all the TD duties are distracting me....but I still want to play, not just run the thing...my ring game has been fine afterwards, I think because I've settled down by then and don't have much left to do..
So I think I might need to split up duties a little bit, but I don't know if that makes me a shitty host? One guy [MRTicsay] takes on a bunch of responsibilities for me and it's a huge help, but I can't impose more work on him, or his game might suffer, too...
Anybody had to deal with this problem? Solutions / suggestions?

It's only fair since you are hosting on top of everything else. Maybe have a rotating "Chore" list. That way everyone has to get involved to play at your house.

BTW - got room for one more ocasionally?? |

The bigger our game has gotten, the more time it takes me going between tables, answering questions, handling rebuys, and so on, and the worse I finished. It bothered me a lot for a while, then I transitioned into thinking of it just purely as a fun game, not a competitive game for me. Once I did that, it's been a lot more fun again. |

Oh, I'm still having fun, I just hate looking like the donkey in the standings!!

I'm using Michael for the color-up's, table and chair breakdowns, etc...

The reason to have a game is to have fun, plus show everyone else how much better of a poker player you are. Now i have a dedicated $ person, a dedicated food person w/rotating helper, etc. Drinks have always been "take care of your own".
With the new system, I have been in the top 4 in standings ( 30 + players ) in each of the last 3 leagues. Much more fun to host, and play well also.
Hope that helps
ps. which night do you play?

We play at my house once a month and somewhere else once a month. You would think that at the other location things would be easier, but it is actually worse. Since I have to bring the tables, chairs, chips, cards, coolers, stats book, timer and ice all with me. I've decided once this league is over to get volunteers for the next one on handling different duties or I won't run another. I wish I got to just show up and play once in a while without having to worry about anything else, but it doesn't happen very often.
