Section 2 - House Policies
Procedures
28. Speaking a foreign language during a deal is not allowed.
I've never had a problem with this, but wondered how this is enforced. What is the proper penalty for speaking another language? |

You should get hit over the head with a 2X4 or something close by...
This rule reminds me of the sene in Rounders.... "English only at the table, NO Russian, I know you are talking about pergroies and snow and chit... |

I'd assume the 1st time is a warning and continuing infractions would be more serious depending on the nature of the game and current actions. During a tournament, I'd assume it would be some sort of timeout (like swearing at WSOP) to possible disqualification. For a cash game, you'll be asked to leave, not invited back, loss of a pot you were in during the infraction, etc. |

We all "speak" a little German and crack a few funnies etc but two of the brothers we play with are also fluent in French....
I'm putting the cart way before the horse here but just wanted to throw it out there. Thanks for the input so far! |

If a second offense is attempted, boiling acid is poured down the person's throat. That's the way they do it at the Bellagio. High class all the way. |

That English rule is pretty hard to enforce sometimes. Just go to any of the Cafifornia poker room or try Party Poker if you can (lots of German there), I also see some French at Paradise. |

I live in America...speak English. But that's a whole other issue.
I disagree that it would be a hard rule to enforce. It's pretty obvious when someone is speaking a language other than English. Again, enforcing the rule is not difficult, I'm wondering about the penalty. 5 minute timeout? 10% of the big blind? |
