Changing the deck will not change your luck. It will only slow the game. Learn it. Know it. Live it.
Thank you.
(those who know, pardon the interruption, sorry if this should be posted in forum-du-whine.)
I personally think this dispensation is over-used in B&M's, and I don't allow it in my home game unless a card is damaged. I paid good money for these cards, and by golly you're gonna use the ones in my hand. If someone can quote me the section in Robert's Rules, I'll be happy to staple it to my felt and I'll STFU. OK, Rant over.

Others ask for it ALL the time to "change" there luck; Gamblers Fallacy
I have played at places that allow new setups every 1/2 hour, hour and also places where it was 2 hours.
Irregardless I am not really bothered when people ask for it, unless if I am playing a timed rake game. |

Now I have Kems, 4 sets of Dal Negros (Freedoms, Acetate, ect.) and he wants the paper cards. He does this on several occasions and it gets to the point that I tell him it's not the cards it's the player. Try bluffing. Then my wife stares at me and calls me P.A.P.P. (pompous a$$ poker player). |

In my mind, this is one of the signs of a below average quality poker player. Someone who thinks that changing the deck will somehow change their luck is in big trouble.
Oh, and if you ask me for a new setup in my monthly home tournament all you will get is a huge laugh from me and a chorus of barbs from the rest of the players there! |

Many, many, many, many poker players are very, very, very, very superstitious. |

And a reason to use only the best cards, just in the rare case someone takes you up on the offer. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
