In a .25/.50 NL Hold 'Em cash game with a $25 max buy in, is there a specific amount that players should have be to down to to be able to rebuy? Is there a standard? Or is it pretty much house rules. I would love some input
We did the max at $25 but some players got upset when I told them they had to get down to $5 to rebuy. The main thing was I was playing also and handling rebuys so i didn't want to have to get up every ten minutes. There were 30 players and some wanted to rebuy after getting down to like $15. I didn't know if i was unaware of some rebuy edequitte because couple of people got kind of upset.
In a NL cash game I would want to be able to refill to the max buy-in whenever I wanted to. Not allowing people rebuy/refill in a NL cash game until they get down to X amount is not good in my opinion. You may want to figure out a way to allow for easy rebuys/refills.
For a small home game, I think it is ok not to allow a rebuy until the stack have reach a predetermine amount. As Millertime has said, it is a pain to refill someone who wants to be at the max every hand. That is fine at a poker room or at a high stake game but not for a small stakes home game.
If it is your game and you are the host, you make the rules. As lone as the rules are fair, if a player does not like the rule, he can leave.
Easy solution: When players re-buy, let them buy extra chips that they keep off the table. They can then use them to re-buy out of their pockets if they want to - whenever they want (between hands of course)

FWIW I do the .25/.50 NL $25 max buy in, no rebuys until down to $5 and it seems to work fine. One of the reasons for controlling the rebuys in a homeNo Limit structure is to keep someone from just bankrolling their way to a comanding stack and to keep the swings smoothed out. Someone on tilt could put in a great deal over what they normally would given the nature of NL and since we're talking home games, it keeps things "cool". Some of this is knowing your players. If everyone is very serious, well known to each other, and in control enough than you could probably forgo the rebuy restriction.

But the idea is that you can't rebuy or refill above the preset max buyin (in this case, $25). Get down to $18, you can only add $7 to your stack. So the idea of someone "bankrolling a commanding stack" just isn't possible.
I appreciate the good info, this was the first time we had this many people and we didn't know everyone real well. Some of the people we friends-of-friends so we just went with it. I also like Devilfish's idea. Thank s to all!
