Queston on Stud!

I'll be running HORSE night at my place soon, and was reading over Robert's rules:
Quote:
1. If your first or second holecard is accidentally turned up by the dealer, then your third card will be dealt down. If both holecards are dealt up, you have a dead hand and receive your ante back. If the first card dealt faceup would have been the lowcard, action starts with the first hand to that player’s left. That player may fold , open for the forced bet , or open for a full bet . (In tournament play, if a downcard is dealt faceup, a misdeal is called.)
Does this mean that if one of your hole cards is turned up, and you end up being the low, there's no forced bring-in?

Re: Queston on Stud!

it seems that way (assuming a cash game).

i've been thinking about doing a horse game as well, but i've been buggered up about the dealing procedures for the stud games. there seems to be a lot more irregularities to deal with than with hold em

This is one of those rules that were made to fix something that probably doesnt need to be fixed. When we play, if one of the two holecards are dealt face up then we make sure that the final card (which is normally face up) is down. That way everyone has the two hidden cards. Then action proceeds as normal. For tournaments in B&M casinos, its one thing to follow this rule, but at home you can take a little leeway.

Re: Queston on Stud!

If your first or second card is dealt face-up, your third card gets dealt face down. In this situation, whoever has the low card on the table brings it in.

If TWO cards are dealt face-up, that person gets his ante back and the hand is dead. However, if the first of his face-up cards would have been the bring-in, then the bring-in passes to the next player on his left. The player with the two face-up cards is not forced to bring in a dead hand,

Does that make sense?

Re: Queston on Stud!

i see...robert's rules is not very clear

the part about the next player having the option of bringing in, folding, or going for the full bet applies only if 2 hole cards are exposed.

so if only 1 hole card is exposed and that is the low card, then that player has to bring it in.

i get it now

Re: Queston on Stud!

I have a HORSE game planned for this (It will be happening in between the Heads Up Tourney) and I was also looking at stud...my question is: do you burn a card after dealing each street? I would think that you would not need to as all the cards get dealt face up except for the 7th.

Anybody else know??

Re: Queston on Stud!

Ah, I understand now:
You don't post a bring-in bet if you end up with a dead hand and you're the low.
If you have a dead hand (take back your ante) and your first card is the low, the person to your left can fold/bringin/full bet.

As far as I understand, you burn cards between streets in stud.

That would be like saying you don't need to burn cards in hold'em because the flop is face up. Did you mean before each street?
