In my thread http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/home-p...rs-chips.html, I came across the issue of appropriate penalties.

In the dispute above, the two players had talked about a settlement when I was away conferring with the dealer on the dispute. They did not reach a settlement. However, if they had, it would have created a dilemna-

Would you allow players to settle a dispute by agreeing on some chip distribution to settle the dispute? Should the Tournament Director accept that settlement?

While an easy way to fix a problem, I think this would set a terrible precedent and undermine efforts to maintain integrity and fairness. I would not have accepted it.

The fact that you know these guys aside, there is no way to see if they are colluding or not in a situation like this. No way would I accept this.
