Chips: 9,135 | | | collapsing tables We had a 21 man tourney Sat night, starting on 3 tables. After the rebuy period ended, when the first guy busted out, we wanted to collapse down to two tables of 10.
What is the best way to collapse the table?
L
PS I ended up dividing the smallest table into two groups and sending half to each of the remaining tables. At the tables, I assigned a number to the gap between each seated player. Between the button and the SB was "1" - between the SB and the BB was "2" - between the BB and the next player (under the gun) was "3". I put cards for each of these numbers face down on the table and had the new players to be seated draw a card each and take the indicated seat. This worked, but was awkward, and the guy who was just the BB at the old table risked being BB again. |

Chips: 406 | | | Re: collapsing tables With 3 tables going to 2 (7-7-6 players remaining), my suggestion would be to completely re-draw for seats.
Throw the A-10 of hearts face down (shuffled) and the A-10 spades down. Players draw, determine the hearts and spades table and then go. Can assign the button to seat 1, or select a seat for the button (by a blind card draw) A-10 of Diamonds face down--card drawn=button position)
Or, you could just get a tournament program to re-seat everyone. On some programs, you can set player max per table at 10, and with a number of 21 players, the program will still seat everyone the way you did (7-7-7) and then combine to 2 tables of 10 after the first bust out.

Chips: 2,140 | | | Re: collapsing tables Yep, that's what I was going to say:
When you eliminate the first guy, the program would automatically reseat the rest across the 20 seats you have left. On TM you can choose whether this is done manually or randomly, on TD I think its just random.
I have to say from a personal point of view, I would not reseat after 1 guy busted out of a 21 player tourney. I would set the seats per table, to say, 8. Then collapse down to two tables when you have 16 players left overall.
But, whatever works for you....... |

Chips: 1,565 | | | Re: collapsing tables I typically run 21 man games, I have everyone seated at 3, 60" round tables that seat 7 comfy, 8 in a pinch.
I have TD set with the final table seats 8 and the others seat 7. I know it is a different form of poker than 10 man table, but until the powerball hits and I get the custom tables this is how I will run games in the garage.
I would wait until at least 16 before breaking them down. |

I was just noting how much cheaper it is to build your own....but then again your post did say, when you hit the powerball so I guess money would be no object. |
