Ruling on Misdeal

I was dealing for a home game after busting out.

5 in everyone folded to the small blind SB calls and BB blind goes all in,
before the SB acts the stupid dealer (me) dropped the flop.

How does it play out or do you re-deal hand?

Does the BB have the choice to retract his all in and act or
Does the SB have the choice to call or fold?

No mis-deal!

Pick up the flop and schuffle the stub. Re-flop.

Re: Ruling on Misdeal

a few facts and a few guesses. (fact) The hand does not get redealed, seeing that at least two players have acted. Without looking up the rest, I beleive the burn card stays the burn card, the 3 cards that were floped get reshuflled back in and 3 new cards get dealt.. I sure if I'm wrong someone will say so.

This is correct. Burn stays burned - reshuffle the flop into the deck and let SB make his decision.

Re: Ruling on Misdeal

Just to re-iterate and quote Robert's Rules:

Quote:
  1. If the flop needs to be redealt because the cards were prematurely flopped before the betting was complete, or the flop contained too many cards, the boardcards are mixed with the remainder of the deck. The burncard remains on the table. After shuffling, the dealer cuts the deck and deals a new flop without burning a card. [See "Section 16 - Explanations," discussion #2, for more information on this rule.]

Re: Ruling on Misdeal

Sounds like the right explanation by Matthew & jalsing. But just to make sure -- no one acted on the flopped cards, right? The all-in was made before the dropped flop and the SB didn't call yet?

Oh, and please DON'T DEAL AHEAD! It may save a little time but usually only bad things can happen. Better to wait a second longer.

Re: Ruling on Misdeal

This is pretty good to know. Ive always wondered what to do when something like this happens. normally it happens when the dealer is busy talking to someone or not paying attention and just flops the cards thinking the pot is right. glad to know what to do now.
