In the past Hold'em was only played with one blind, which I think was big. If you read Hold'em for Advanced Players by Sklansky it refers to strategy changes that came with the advent of two blinds.
I can see for a tournament starting with two the same, but why would you want to have only one blind? Having two helps get a bit more action going - more money to play for, and two players with something invested in the hand.
BTW, not a dumb question.

Mike | just to save the need of having a "dime" chip in our cash game without shooting up a level to 25/50c's..tho you will all say it shouldnt be that big a jump, right?..i am just afraid i am playing with some cheapo's...
do you think there is much of a diff..starting 10/25cash Nl vs 25/50c cash Nl..it would be nice not to need the dimes....(and making change when people cash out..)??
thanks guys

We play one BB of $.50 NL. If we do happen to get 7 or more then we go up to two blinds of $.25/$.50 NL. Not really sure why it started that way, but that is how it is and everyone is happy with it!
Hell, they are playing poker, so they are already happy!

Only if everyone is a total rock will you have to up the blinds/number of blinds.

It does help to move things along a bit. I’ve noticed over the last few years that a lot of Colorado casinos are going to a single blind, for the same reason. In fact, only one of my regular “haunts” is still using a SB/BB structure. |

Chips: 24 | | | Re: single blind cash games? Not a dumb question at all...That is exactly how we play our cash game. Each blind is $.25. They are still considered sm and bb. Our players are pretty aggressive so the pots get up to $50+ sometimes. We allow a $20 buy in max but you may rebuy as many times as you like. I prefer larger stakes but some in the group just can't handle more than that. Quote: |

If you have an aggressive (lets call them “experienced”) group, the blinds don’t have much effect on forcing the action. It’s going to happen anyway. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
